I PLAY ROCKY, And That’s All That Matters In The Official Trailer!
I suppose it was a matter of time before there would be a biopic of some kind centralizing actor Sylvester Stallone in some way shape or form. To this, we have leading man Anthony Ippolito taking on the titular role of Peter Farrelly’s I Play Rocky which chronicles Stallone’s earlier exploits as a struggling actor.
Coming to theaters on November 13 from Amazon MGM Studios, I Play Rocky is described as “an electrifying true story about an unknown actor with an unshakable belief that he wasn’t just meant to write Rocky—he was meant to be Rocky Balboa. Told ‘no’ at every turn, Sylvester Stallone bets everything on himself, holding the line on playing the lead against seemingly impossible odds. The result is the ultimate underdog story behind the ultimate underdog movie”.
Farrelly directs from a script Peter Gamble, with Matt Dillon, AnnaSophia Robb, P.J. Byrne, Toby Kebbell, Tracy Letts, Jay Duplass, Stephan James, and Kiki Seto also starring.
The official trailer is online as well, and I’m particularly piqued by Farrelly’s take on the film in concept and practice, including capturing the spirt, essence and conviction of the original 1976 production in select shots. The idea is definitely there in real time and certainly looks the part, but that’s just my opinion.
