It’s been four years since the release of Law Wing-Cheong’s Hong Kong action classic revival, Iceman 3D. Despite its intentions and even eventually splitting the film in two due to being too long, the film ultimately grew dismal with critics – indeed, a clear sign that Donnie Yen‘s starpower and a bloated budget wouldn’t be enough next to it’s own lackluster application.
Clearly, a sequel wouldn’t be that expedient, although it’s still given Yen plenty of time to catch up with his craft filming hits like Kung Fu Killer and a stellar performing Ip Man 3 among other projects. Alas, fast forward to 2018 with the fresh success of Big Brother, a November sequel release fast approaches for Iceman: The Time Traveler with the official trailer now online.
Directed this time around by Raymond Yip, Yen beckons the return of his role as a centuries-old warrior thawed in present-day China next to former comrades who’ve conspired to kill him. Rejoining the fray or Wang Baoqiang and Kang Yu along with Kurata Yasuaki, Eva Huang who still looks like she’s just along for the ride, and Simon Yam now out-and-out in full villain fashion.
