JJAMPPONG BIGWON Trailers Toss In Retro Kung Fu Thrills And Laughs In The Latest Trailers!
Baek Soo-jang in JJAMPPONG BIGWON (2022)
At some point there’ll surely be an English-branded push for upcoming action comedy, Jjamppong Bigwon, which is heading to South Korean screens next month. In the meantime, trailers are making headway online host to hints of what looks like a South Korean spin on the retro throwback to classic kung fu cinema.
Solo debut-directed by Park Dong-ki who previously helmed one of three seats as director for 2021 drama omnibus, We’re Not Good At Parting, Jjamppong Bigwon stars Baek Soo-jang (Miss Baek) as a failed businessman who finds himself in the throes of family secrets connecting him as the descendant of an ancient martial arts faction, with a renewed purpose of vengeance against an evil force known as the Black Magician, newly resurrected after two centuries.
That’s about as much as I can sensibly gather from some of the Korean outlets I browsed, including HanCinema which also lists Hwang Ji-yeon (KBS2 series Royal Secret Agent), Jo Woon (The Prisoner), Kim Ki-doo (KBS2 series Revolutionary Sisters) and Lee Kyung-wook (SBS series Vagabond).
