The half-billion dollar blockbuster success and sequel provocation of the Zack Snyder-directed Man Of Steel has led anxiously driven fans closer and closer to the hopes of a Justice League movie that apparently can’t happen soon enough. Actor Henry Cavill, who plays the titular role told Entertainment Weekly about a week ago that it is not likely to happen anytime soon, and really, it’s out of respect for the creative process.
He says “Justice League could be great if done correctly. It’s a very tough one to do because the DC comic heroes are all god-like in their power. So in this real world universe, real-world setting we’re telling our story in, it’s going to be tough to achieve that. It has to be done very delicately with a lot of thought. So, it won’t be right away. I hope it’s not, anyway. It may take some time of building up other movies and other characters and introducing them together in one way or another.”
That said, there is no official word yet on whether or not
Christopher Nolan will pick up where he left off with his producer role for
Man Of Steel in the sequel. But rest assured, we can now confirm that from here out, anything
Batman or
Justice League-related will likely not have much ado with actor
Christian Bale, best known for his recent portrayal of playboy billionaore Bruce Wayne’s crimefighting alterego, Batman in Nolan’s
Dark Knight Trilogy.
“We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy,” Bale says in an interview with
Entertainment Weekly.
“Chris [Nolan] always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We’re about to make the third.’ We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well.”He also says, ”I have no information, no knowledge about anything. I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a Justice League movie, that’s it. It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with”
I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve had my fill of Batman movies for a while, and if Bale and Nolan are ready to hand over the cape and cowel to another set of filmmakers looking to cast Batman for a future film down the line, so be it. Nolan did a remarkable job bringing the Caped Crusader to the big screen in the past decade, so I can wait a little longer to appreciate the need for a new Batman film. Nor do I have an issue with waiting for Justice League film to happen, because honestly, Cavill makes a great point, and it really may take other films to happen in order for JL to work on the big screen, and the universe knows I’ve been more than patient for a Wonder Woman movie to happen, especially. And yet for some reason her character is just being diminished to meandering efforts to bring her to television. Sorry, but for a JL character like that with an ensemble movie being hype, it’s time to show that woman some respect and put her on the big screen first.
And since Green Lantern has already been done, we need to capitalize off of what is already there and follow along with Flash, followed by a decent application of Aquaman, and then move forward to JL. That way, this will give the studio more time to re-envision and revive Batman the right way for a suitable JL film, while still dazzling audiences with the upcoming Man Of Steel 2.
Those are my two cents, but I want to know your thoughts.
