Lee, Kang, Kim Headline Jo's MASTER Early Next Year
Actor Lee Byung-Hun, co-star of Terminator: Genisys, currently has a flourishing overseas career with Paramount Pictures’s G.I. Joe movies in 2009 and 2013 among others, and with any luck he’ll be doing the same with the studio now in tow with a universe of crossover films for Hasbro’s Allspark shingle. In the meantime, Lee is still a star at home in South Korea with hits like the long-awaited release of Woo Min-Ho’s political thriller, Inside Men, which finally opened last month.
This week, his momentum into the new year continues with Master, which is set to begin filming in early 2016. The film marks Make It Big and The World Of Silence helmer Jo Eui-Seok’s third solo directorial debut as well as his latest gig since working at the helm with Kim Byung-Seo on the 2013 surveillance hit, Cold Eyes. Lee will be joined by opposite fellow leading South Korean sensation, Kundo and Woochi star Kang Dong-Won in his first role as a detective for the new film, leading a team of intellectual crime investigators on the verge of unfolding a major fraud case. Twenty and Friend, The Great Legacy star Kim Woo-Bin currently rounds out the cast.
Opus is financing for CJ Entertainment to release thereafter with a date pending.
