LUCY Gets An International Trailer
Ten years after developing a film conceptualized around neurology, director Luc Besson has finally realized that concept from its embryotic stages in the form of his latest sci-fi action thriller Lucy. Footage from the film has already earned the interest of fans by way of Wondercon 2014 last month, in addition to first trailer, featuring Marvel leading lady, actress Scarlett Johansson in Besson‘s latest contribution to the action genre, preferably adhering to his usual knack for strong female figures in his films. “I’m interested in opposites,” he said. “We always portray the man as big and strong. ‘Hasta la Vista, Baby.’ The women is always in the background in distress. I’m interested in [flipping that].”.
From La Femme Nikita and The Professional to The Fifth Element, writer/director Luc Besson has created some of the toughest, most memorable female action heroes in cinematic history. Now, Besson directs Scarlett Johansson in Lucy, an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.
Lucy also stars Academy Award® winner Morgan Freeman and is produced by Virginie Besson-Silla for EuropaCorp. Universal Pictures will distribute the movie worldwide, except for France, Benelux and China.
