MAD HEIDI Official Trailer Promises Bloody, Gonzo Swissploitation Extravagance
Directors Johannes Hartmann and Sandro Klopfstein are still trekking the festivals from now through winter as folks keeping up with any and all things relevant to Swissploitation action horror comedy, Mad Heidi, can now spy an eye on the official trailer, online as of Wednesday. The film introduces actress Alice Lucy in the newest incarnation of the children’s book character now fit for consumption by masses keen to more R-rated grindhouse fanfare, and the trailer, ripe with exploding heads, action, gore and sexy, beefy Swiss women, and comic villany by Casper Van Dien who is no stranger to extravagant and over-the-top spectacle in cinema, certainly hints at a flick as grandiose and promising as it looks.
In a dystopian Switzerland that has fallen under the fascist rule of an evil cheese tyrant, Heidi lives the pure and simple life in the Swiss Alps. Grandfather Alpöhi does his best to protect Heidi, but her yearning for freedom soon gets her into trouble with the dictator’s henchmen. The innocent girl transforms herself into a kick-ass female fighting force who sets out to liberate the country from the insane cheese fascists.
MAD HEIDI is an action-adventure exploitation spoof based on the popular children‘s book character Heidi and the very first Swissploitation film. Yes, this time Switzerland will be exploited!
Mad Heidi also stars Kel Matsena, Max Rüdlinger, David Schofeld, Almar G. Sato, Pascal Ulli, and Katja Kolm. The film is currently on deck for its North American premiere for Screamfeat this Friday at the TCL Chinese Theatre in California, with more stops to come in the U.S., as well as Italy, Zurich, Switzerland, France, the U.K., and Ireland, as well as in Belgium where there the film enjoyed a World Premiere at BIFFF last month.
A Film Company and Swissploitation Films are handling the film’s theatrical releases in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and France from November 24, before its digital release through the film’s official website beginning December 8.
