MR. BIGSTUFF: Bruising Brotherly Love And Shenanigans In The Series Trailer
Rolling out this summer on Sky Max in the UK is new comedy series, Mr. Bigstuff. The official trailer is live as of this past week starring Ryan Sampson, and Danny Dyer in his TV debut.
The six-part comedy explores broken families, fragile masculinity and carpet sales. It tells the story of two estranged brothers; Glen a nervy perfectionist striving to live the suburban ideal and Lee an alpha male with a prescription drug addiction and biscuit tin full of his Dad’s ashes.
Glen and his fiancée share a perfect, perfectly mundane life together. Sure, Glen’s got crippling erectile dysfunction and Kirsty has a secret shoplifting habit, but they’re happy. That is until Lee comes crashing into their lives, whilst on the run from a past that’s quickly catching up with him. The trio are forced together: a perfectionist, a fantasist and an anarchist all living under the same roof in an Essex cul-de-sac. It’s not long before their ‘perfect’ lives start to unravel faster than a cheap carpet.
Mr. Bigstuff is directed by Matt Lipsey from a script by Sampson. Also starring Harriet Webb, Adrian Scarborough, Fatiha El Ghorri, Ned Dennehy, Victoria Alcock, Geoff Bell, Nitin Ganatra, Judi Love, and Clive Russell. The film’s creative team also includes dance and movement professional Nadia Sohawon who shared the teaser on one of her socials, and spoke a teeny bit with me about the show from her angle.
“Working with a friendly cast and crew was so welcomed as on some jobs, dance isn’t taken seriously or respected,” she said. “All actors were down to earth and worked hard to make the dance work within the comedy.”
