NANNY NENA’S: Behind The Scenes Of The Action In The New Art School Dropouts Martial Arts Comedy [EXCLUSIVE]
Production is already underway this month for Nanny Nena’s, the latest action comedy feature from the team at Art School Dropouts. Actress and martial artist Angela Jordan leads the cast in her debut role, reuniting with directors Joey Min and Stephanie Pham on the project for the third time since Yes, Auntie! (2019), and Player Agency (2025).
Nanny Nena’s centers on a large Filipino-American family in its efforts to sustain the catering business they inherit from their late Auntie Nena. We meet Angela (Jordan), who picks up her cousin from the airport for a family reunion, expecting an awkward day of food deliveries and family obligations, until the pair find themselves caught in the middle of a criminal scheme involving a stolen flash drive, internet-famous troublemakers, and a mob boss determined to get his property back.
Jordan leads a cast that also includes Rex Navarrete (Asian Persuasion), John Tabaniag (Daughter’s Daughter), Regina Famatigan (Ghost Punchers), Philippe Javier Garcesto (Asian Persuasion), Jean Mary Zarate (“The Last Week”), Liza-Anne Francisco (Hold Up), and Mia Bompensa. Also starring are Dante Basco (“The Perfect Weapon,” “Avatar: The Last Airbender”), and martial artist, weapons specialist and TV personality Doug Marcaida (“Forged In Fire”), along with Hans Marrero (“Ruthless,” “S.W.A.T.”), Arsenio Garcia, and Brendan Kelleher (“FBI”).
Pham is also producing the film along with Samuel Delitans Lee and Rowena Tarzona. Additionally, the YouTube creatives over at Scenic Fights, best known for exhibiting fight scene breakdowns from hit action films, are also producing.
Par for the course with the film’s requisite martial arts spectacle is Min who serves as action director. Film Combat Syndicate can proudly share some of that work being applied in an exclusive reel courtesy of Art School Dropouts which you can view below.
