New Release Date For SPACE PIRATE: CAPTAIN HARLOCK
Crunchyroll has forwarded the latest long-form trailer for the upcoming 3DCG animated galactic action adventure, Space Pirate: Captain Harlock from writer Harutoshi Fukui (Mobile Suit Gundam UC), and director Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed, Appleseed: Ex-Machina, Halo: Legends). The news comes along with a new Japan theatrical release date set for September 7, 2013.
The film is based on a classic 1950’s/1970’s original manga character by artist Leiji Matsumoto, about a hero who becomes a space pirate and rebels against Earth’s government to save mankind. The film, budgeted at $30 million dollars, was three years in the making since Toei Animation announced its development back in 2010 for a scheduled 2012 release at the time, in addition to the rebooted anime and manga franchise.
