New SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Trailer Weaves A Twenty-Year Web Of Epic Rivalry
Welp, the newest official trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home is here, and I have to say that aside from how cool it looks, everything I’m getting from this footage tells me that director Jon Watts knows my pain.
What felt like an over-abundance of Spider-Man movies in the last twenty years seems to finally look toward stemming the franchise fatigue I began feeling after trying to promote the Andrew Garfield-era Spider-Man films and holding onto hope for some industrial fulfillment there. Seriously, it was getting to me. To say the least, for the first time in a long while, I don’t feel that tired. Tom Holland is more than deserving of the ceremony and praise he’s gotten as the friendly neighborhood wallcrawler from Queens, and all across two studios and coming full circle with the Avengers Infinity Saga to that end.
Joined here by Benedict Cumberbatch in his continuation of the Sorcerer Supreme himself, Doctor Strange – ahead of his own forthcoming sequel no less – Spider-Man: No Way Home is definitely gonna answer some questions some of us have probably asked. Moreover, I’m glad this trailer was put together the way it was, because it gives away just enough without giving away all the fan service, something I trust Marvel enough with in their own brilliance at telling these stories the way they have, and weaving such a tapestry that just world-builds beyond what we expect.
Invariably though, what’s important thusfar is that this is Holland’s reportedly final stint as the character as Marvel moves forward with its next chapters. I feel refreshed!
December 17 in theaters, kids!
