New SUPERGIRL Promos Tease Jason Momoa’s ‘Lobo’: “Finally!”
It’s only taken over a decade-and-a-half but DC Comics favorite, Lobo, is finally getting his day on the big screen with his upcoming appearance in Supergirl this summer. Jason Momoa is playing the character opposite Milly Alcock in the titular role, continuing the Gunn/Safran era of the DCU with Craig Gillespie directing.
The first official teaser arrived last month sharing a very brief glimpse of Momoa in full Lobo regalia. The motorcycle-riding alien character first birthed onto the pages of DC Comics back in 1983, created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, and has been on track for a potential live-action film under Warner Bros. Pictures since 2009.
Momoa’s casting in the role rejoins him with the studio’s superhero franchise since director James Wan’s Aquaman during the Snyderverse era – as hailed with the work of director Zack Snyder from 2013’s Man Of Steel to Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Snyder’s titular 2021 director’s cut of Joss Whedon’s Justice League which the studio released in 2017.
Talks of a Lobo movie are still happening and the theatrical rollout of Supergirl on June 26 will certainly amplify the rhetoric. In the meantime, catch a glimpse of him in the newest TV spot, as well as via Instagram:
