OPERATION KABUL: Exclusive Trailer Debut For The New Afghan War Drama From Well Go USA
If you’re into geopolitics and world events, then you might remember a bit about the calamity that ensued following the drawdown of U.S. troops from Afghanistan. Hungarian director Zsombor Dyga captures a harrowing look at this chapter in recent history with his latest war drama, Operation Kabul, which opened late last year for Hungarian audiences.
The movie has since been acquired for stateside release from Well Go USA, and is now slated for a Digital release on November 3. Dyga directs Operation Kabul, inspired by the harrowing true events of the 2021 rescue mission “Operation Shaman Shield” in which Hungarian forces evacuated hundreds of civilians following the NATO withdrawal.
Inspired by true events, OPERATION KABUL follows a daring military evacuation during the chaotic 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan. As hundreds race to escape the collapsing city, a rifleman commander leads his unit beyond the airport on a perilous nighttime mission to rescue a doctor captured by the Taliban, turning an already dangerous operation into a fight for survival.
Áron Horváth penned the script for a cast led Gábor Jászberényi who plays a Hungarian elite soldier, and Blanka Mészáros who plays a doctor.
Operation Kabul also stars Tamás Borovics, Nóra Trokán, Adrián Samudovszky, Gusztáv Dietz, Dávid Hajmási, Zsombor Ertl, Márton Máthé, Szilveszter Pálinkás, Klarissza Lakatos, Harry Szovik, Read Ben Salah, Marco Lascari, Loai Shaker, József Tálos, and András Stohl.
