Actress Sheila Shah (Rambo: Last Blood) will join actors Brendan Fraser (Doom Patrol) and Tom Welling (Lucifer) for Viaplay and Tele Munchen’s high profile action series, Professionals. News of the series broke in May, created by Jeff Most whose 2012 action pic, Maksim Korostyshevsky’s Soliders Of Fortune serves as the basis for the new ten-episode series.
Showrunner Michael Colleary penned the series which is set against the backdrop of international espionage and corporate sabotage in the 21st century’s privately-funded space race. Professionals centers on Captain Vincent Corbo, a hardened co-counterintel officer who assembles a team to investigate an exploded medical satelite at the behest of billionaire futurist Peter Swann (Fraser), only to find himself pitted against Swann’s shadowy criminal rivals.
Shah will recur as Desiree Jazani in the ten part series which also stars Elana Anaya, Saïd Taghmaoui, Ken Duken, Lisa Loven Kongsli and August Wittgenstein. The series will be distributed by Tele Munchen and broadcasted by Viaplay along with RTL II.
Shah is on the fast-track with credits that include Michael Hall’s Tomorrow’s Taken and an upcoming Tony Kaye project, in addition to producing three Canadian and UK productions currently in development. She landed her first role as an FBI agent in the highly successful Saw franchise for its fifth entry from director David Hackl.
Shah also serves as an Ambassador for the March of Dimes of Canada, speaking at celebrity golf classic tournaments and other events throughout the years and bringing awareness to the charity’s cause. She is also an advocate for CARE, an organization fighting poverty by empowering women and girls and has helped organizations such as the David Lynch Foundation and Go Campaign.
The actress and producer has also joined as an ambassador for White Ribbon USA, the world’s largest movement of men and boys working to end violence against women and girls.
Professionals will be distributed by Tele Munchen and broadcasted by Scandinavian SVOD service, Viaplay along with RTL II.
