RIDDICK: FURYA Sets August Start Date For Fourth Installment
25 years after the release of David Twohy’s Pitch Black, the director will reunite with his star, Vin Diesel, for the fourth and next live-action chapter in the Riddick saga, Riddick: Furya. Diesel himself has been posting cryptic updates about the franchise from time to time on social media, including in the last few weeks with one post captioned “The road to FURYA!,” and just several days ago with another photo captioned with “It’s an animal thing…”
In Riddick: Furya, Riddick finally returns to his home world, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins. But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.
“Furya” refers to the race of people among which Diesel’s franchise staple, Richard B. Riddick, is a member of. Riddick is a fugitive outlaw and the most wanted man of every bounty hunter treading through the stars to find him. From Pitch Black, the persona evolved its way to the throne in 2004’s The Chronicles Of Riddick where the anti-hero goes toe-to-toe with an evil empirical warlord, before sending him back into the fray in 2013’s Riddick, battling both mercenaries and creatures alike.
Diesel will produce Riddick: Furya alongside Samantha Vincent for One Race Films, next to Rocket Science’s Thorsten Schumacher and Thank You Studios’s Lars Sylvest alongside Joe Neurauter. Rocket Science repped international rights and has completed worldwide sales as cameras are slated to roll on August 26, with locations set for Germany, Spain, and the U.K..
