ROAD HOUSE 2 Is In The Works At Amazon
This little news byte made it past me as I’d been recuperating from a shitty fever this week. Indeed though, a Road House sequel is happening, and I’m hear for it.
Jake Gyllenhaal starred in the remake along with a bevy of talents that reimagined the 1989 action thriller that starred the late Patrick Swayze. Doug Liman directed the film which centers on a downtrodden ex-fighter whose latest hire at a Road House in the Florida Keys forces him to confront his darker side when the town’s worst auspices begin surfacing.
There’s a whole history of behind-the-scenes brouhaha and legal stuff that occurred before (and after) the film’s launch back in March, which imaginably nearly upended the PR campaign. Luckily, the film’s two leads, including Conor McGregor got in front of the controversy to puts some glitz and glam before the media. The result? Welp…
Per Amazon MGM Studios, its first “Road House” film “has attracted nearly 80 million worldwide viewers to-date. The film premiered on Prime Video March 21 and attracted a record-breaking over 50 million worldwide viewers over its first two weekends, becoming Amazon MGM Studios’ “most-watched produced film debut ever on a worldwide basis.”
A lot of folks had their opinions on this one. One area of chagrin I didn’t entirely understand was stunt coordinator Garrett Warren and fight choreographer Steve Brown’s use of the “positive contact” method, which had already been used on a few films that fans have seen.
The lazy argument pertains to how CG factors into it – honestly, people would be surprised how much CG factors into the making of an action scene. Personally, it depends on how the scene is crafted and performed, and executed per the film’s procession.
My thoughts on Road House can be foundherein the meantime. Indeed, the film ends on something of a cliffhanger which makes this week’s sequel announcement all the more fitting.
