Adam Rehmeier (Carolina Caroline) is set to direct Seeker, a new mystery thriller rolling cameras in Washington State in January. Production hails from Hammerstone Studios and Script 2 Screen, with north.five.six. repping international distribution rights for the sales floor at the American Film Market next week in Los Angeles; CAA Media Finance represents US rights.
Rehmeier will direct Seeker from an original screenplay by Michael Learner, for a cast that lists Cooper Tomlinson (Obsession) opposite Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day, Happy Death Day 2U, upcoming River) and Mika Abdalla (Prime Video’s Off Campus, HBO Max’s The Pitt, Snack Shack). Seeker follows “Grant” (Tomlinson), a man haunted by the unexplained disappearance of his fiancée “Caroline” (Abdalla) five years earlier. Now a ride-share driver, his life is upended when he picks up a passenger who he is convinced is responsible for her disappearance. What starts as a tense game of cat-and-mouse spirals into something far stranger, more disturbing, and deeply unhinged – challenging everything we think we know.
Producers are currently casting the roles of “Steve” and “Kate” now.
Alex Lebovici and Michael Learner will produce for Hammerstone Studios (Barbarian, Don’t Move, By Any Means, Flight Risk), with Academy Award® Winner Adam McKay and Two-time Emmy® Nominee Todd Schulman for HyperObject Industries (Don’t Look Up, Succession, The Menu, Fresh, Thrash), and Noah Centineo and Enzo Marc of Arkhum Productions (Our Hero, Balthazar, Union County, upcoming Gundam). Samuel Hall and Warren Goz will executive produce for north.five.six. (By Any Means, Regretting You, Beware Boiúna, The Surfer, Locked), alongside Ibrahim Mohammed (Silent Night, Deadly Night, By Any Means), Yasmyne Mohammed (By Any Means), and Chase Vergari (By Any Means, The Beast).
Rehmeier said: “I was all-in the moment I finished reading Michael’s script – it’s dark, twisted, funny, terrifying; a perfect mash-up of genres I haven’t tackled yet. I couldn’t be more excited to get to work with my regular team of collaborators and this amazing group of producers at Hammerstone Studios, HyperObject Industries and Arkhum Productions.”
Lebovici of Hammerstone Studios said: “It’s not every day your head of development turns in an absolute banger like Seeker. Michael Learner has written something truly special, and I couldn’t be more proud of what he’s accomplished. Bringing it to life with Adam Rehmeier, a filmmaker whose work I’ve been obsessed with for years, and this incredible cast makes it all the more exciting.”
McKay of HyperObject Industries said: “HyperObject reads a LOT of scripts so anytime I’m genuinely surprised by one like I was with Seeker, we all turn into 16-year-old film nerds and get very excited.”
Marc of Arkhum Productions continued: “We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Hammerstone and HyperObject. This is our second collaboration with Hammerstone. The Seeker script was so captivating that I finished it just a couple of hours after Alex and Michael shared it with me. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. This is going to be an insane cinematic experience, and we couldn’t be more excited to get to Washington and work with Adam Rehmeier and this incredible team as we bring Michael’s script to life.”
Hall of north.five.six. said: “We couldn’t be more excited to bring this calibre of original genre filmmaking to distributors and audiences. Michael’s screenplay is a true one-of-a-kind mind-melter, and it’s no surprise Adam and the team have assembled such an insane of-the-moment cast who have experienced record-breaking success at the box office this past year. Seeker is our second time collaborating with Alex and his incredible team at Hammerstone, and it’s the perfect statement of intent for the kind of theatrical events we aspire to deliver.”
