The first official trailer is online for Spenser Confidential, the first in what looks like a more promising outing from Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg who last paired up for Mile 22; Not that it necessarily overshadows their previous work, but in case you’re wondering, I’m still feeling the sting from that cutting room fiasco.
Taken from the pages of Ace Atkins’ best seller, Robert B. Parker’s Wonderland, the official plot reads with Wahlberg as ex-cop fresh out of prison who firstly gets roped into helping his old boxing coach and mentor, Henry (Alan Arkin), with promising amateur, Hawk (Winston Duke), a brash, no-nonsense MMA fighter convinced he’ll be a tougher opponent than Spenser ever was.
When two of Spenser’s former colleagues turn up murdered, he recruits Hawk and his foul-mouthed ex-girlfriend, Cissy (Iliza Shlesinger), to help him investigate and bring the culprits to justice.
Also starring are Bokeem Woodbine, Marc Maron, and Post Malone. Netflix adjoined the title in a series of announcements for the new year with a release date slated for March 6.
