Streaming Sleepers: Gabriele Mainetti’s THE FORBIDDEN CITY Cooks Up Kung Fu And Romance On Hi-YAH!
If you’re not too preoccupied with a few other awesome releases over the weekend, there’s still some choice options over at Hi-YAH! where you can now catch Gabriele Mainetti’s new romantic martial arts drama, The Forbidden City. It’s the film that stars stunt performer and fledgling actress Yaxi Liu (Mulan), and actor Enrico Borello, and unravels with introspective revelations about love as the violent and tragic paths cross between a martial arts expert searching for missing sister, and a beleaguered restaurant cook struggling to uphold his mysteriously-departed father’s legacy.
This film was a must-see for me last year during its festival run last summer, and it’s also a film I definitely recommend owning on disc if you can grab one. Otherwise, Hi-YAH! came in clutch over the weekend and you can check it out there now. My review is also available to spool through for good measure.
