SUPERMAN & LOIS wraps up a spectacular third season, setting big expectations for the next season after renewal

After the cancellation of Gotham Knights, Superman & Lois has turned into the only survivor of the Arrowverse, however the future of the show still remains uncertain on the horizon, since it has suffered a big cut on its budget, reducing big part of the cast and dropping the number of episodes to 10 for the next season, but setting big expectations after a devastating season finale that has done beyond right what has been done wrong on DC cinematic universe.

Throughout three seasons so far, this show created by Todd Helbing and Greg Berlanti, has suprised viewers and fans of the beloved character for its undeniable quality beyond TV plays standards, due a most ambitious approach than the rest of CW superhero universe, adding bigger production values, with a cinematography that resembles more to film than televison, presenting a new vision of superman, under a new light of maturity and complexity, that has opted for drifting away from the rest of the arrowverse, setting the story in a new universe, which gives the show the chance to pave its own path, something that has was confirmed on its second season.

The show introduces Clark Kent and Lois Lane (Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch) as a happily married couple on their erly 40´s, parents of two teeenage boys, Jordan and Jonathan (Alexander Garfin and Jordan Elsass). The couple decides to leave Metropolis in order to move into Smallville, where Clark reunites with his first love, Lana Lang (Emmanuelle Chriqui), realizing that nothing has changed much on his hometown in all those years away, but at the same time dealing with the big responsibility of being a hero for all mankind but more importantly, learning to deal with a much bigger and difficult responsibility in life, parenthood.

It was a risky move to turn the superman story into an action family drama, but the creators has been inteligently capables of making the superman mythology into a moving tale set in superman later years, brilliantly showing his originis without being actually doing his origins, dragging the audience to feel that they´ve been knowing for years this superman played by a very convincing Tyler Hoechlin, driving the audience to care about his human side (or I might say Kryptonian side since he´s just an adopted human), but never neglecting the fast paced and well elabotated action sequences that gives the audience the thrill of the epic adventures that respects the essence of superman as icon in popular culture and symbol of hope, but overall delivering a high quality product, that despite carrying some issues typicals on TV plays, like some filling subplots that burdens the rythm, or the abuse of teenage romantic dramas that never seems to go anywhere, gives the audience the best superman tales shown on the screen in years.

Nevertheless the show has been facing some setbacks, as the need of recasting Jonathan Kent for season 3, after Jordan Elsass had to leave the show after season 2 for personal issues, being replaced by Michael Bishop, and now is facing probably its more biggest challenge, having to keep the quality after its renewal, with a lower budget to set a new glorious flight towards a 4th season that desperetely needs to top the expectations after an over the top season 3 finale.
