TAEGUKGI: BROTHERHOOD OF WAR Gets A Theatrical 4K Re-Release Next Week
Moviegoers in South Korea are welcome to reignite theater fervor once more now that Content Zone are taking the reins for as many as forty films from the 1980s through the early 2000s, to lend a 4K re-rendering for the big screen. The latest includes Shiri helmer Kang Je-gyu’s harrowing war epic, Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War, released initially in 2004 to box office fruition and landing multiple nominations and wins from several festivals that year.
From the director of Shiri comes the epic tale of two brothers. Jin-tae, a shoemaker, has worked tirelessly to provide money for the younger Jin-seok to go to college. But each of their hopes and dreams are shattered when both are forced to join the army against their will. Torn away from home and family, Jin-tae vows to protect Jin-seok despite the dangers and the cost. In the searing crucible of battle, fate intervenes, forcing their bonds of faith, love and trust to be tested time and again in this suspense-filled, action-packed war drama.
Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War is headline by superstars Jang Dong-gun (Friend), Won Bin (The Man From Nowhere), late actress Lee Eun-ju (The Scarlet Letter), and Choi Min-sik (Shiri, Oldboy). CGV, South Korea’s largest cinema chain, will release the film on March 17.
