I think the Marvel line of films are still in a bit of a weird place unlike the years that led up to Avengers: Endgame. Granted most of these movies will sell themselves, even as Sony’s stake in the brand continues to fluctuate. Nowadays their post-Madam Web prospects are turning out a little better with J.C. Chandor’s Kraven The Hunter which has a brand new and spectacular trailer as of the wee hours of Wednesday. The film stars Avengers: Age Of Ultron‘s Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the title role for its TBA release in December following a delay from its previous January 2023 and August 2024 dates. Kraven the Hunter is the visceral, action-packed origin story of how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven, a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path […]
Provided that you’re not like me and you’ve been able to keep up with all things Marvel, you’re now at the latest milemarker with Sony signaling the fandom with director J.C. Chandor’s Kraven The Hunter starring Aaron Taylor Johnson and Russell Crowe. Kraven the Hunter is the visceral story about how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Set before his notorious vendetta with Spider-Man, Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as the titular character in the R-rated film. The film also stars Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola and Christopher Abbott. Sony is opening the film in March and now has a red-band trailer to help whet the appetite.
Actor and director, Chris Pine and David McKenzie of Hell Or High Water fame are reuniting for the new period war epic, Outlaw King, as part of a slate of upcoming Netflix titles as of earlier this year. As of Thursday, the two will be joined by actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson (The Wall) who will play James Douglas to Pine’s Robert The Bruce in service of William Wallace, the 13th century knight and Commander who led the Scottish to independence against the English. per Mike Fleming Jr.’s report at Deadline: Douglas is a storied figure in Scottish history, and from what I’m reading, it’s hard to imagine Robert the Bruce would have succeeded in beating back England King Edward I’s armies if he didn’t have Douglas as his right-hand man. The son of the first noble to support William Wallace when the figure memorialized in Braveheartfomented the first movement toward independence from […]
Edge Of Tomorrow helmer Doug Liman is currently attached to quite a few projects. Currently, a 20th Century Fox adaptation of Marvel character Gambit which continues to remain in limbo since late last year as one of several films I’ve been hoping to see movement on and I can’t really imagine what the hold up is. At any rate, the director of upcoming 80’s crime thriller, Mena, has been piling up and as of March, the stack includes The Wall, a new psychological war thriller from Amazon Stuidos in their first foray to original film territory. That film, written by Dwain Worrell, has now cast actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson following this week’s report from Variety, which states he will play an American sniper caught in a cat-and-mouse game with an Iraqi sharpshooter who has him pinned behind a small chunk of concrete. FilmNation is presenting the film to Cannes starting this […]
