HUNTED Trailer: Lucie Debay Turns The Table In Vincent Paronnaud’s Feature Debut Thriller

Cannes Jury Prize-winning Persepolis and Chicken With Plums director Vincent Paronnaud had a good virtual festival run this year with his latest survival thriller, Hunted, which stars Magritte Award-winning actors Lucie Debay (The Confession) and Arieh Worthalter (Girl) for the story of a woman cornered into survival against a sadistic stalker. You’re welcome to skim my review from October during its Nightstream run if you’re curious. Otherwise, the film’s pending exclusive Shudder release now welcomes an official trailer as of Thursday, and a premiere date set for January 14 in U.S., Canada and U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, and via the Shudder offering within the AMC+ bundle where available. What started as a flirtatious encounter at a bar turns into a life-or-death struggle as Eve (Lucie Debay) becomes the unknowing target of a misogynistic plot against her. Forced to flee as two men pursue her through the forest, she’s […]

Shudder Nabs BOYS FROM COUNTY HELL

Christina Ortega

Adding to my long list of reasons to get a subscription to Shudder, the streaming service has acquired rights to horror comedy Boys From County Hell. The film premiered at Sitges International Film Festival and just recently for the inaugural Nightstream Film Festival, and is now set to premiere on Shudder next year. Written and directed by Chris Baugh, Boys from County Hell stars Jack Rowarn, Nigel O’Neill, Louisa Harland, Fra Free, and John Lynch. So what’s it all about? Welcome to Six Mile Hill, a sleepy town whose only claim to fame is that locals say Bram Stoker once spent a night in the local pub. It’s home to Eugene Moffat, who spends his days drinking pints with his friends and pranking tourists at the grave site of Abhartach — a legendary Irish vampire who may have inspired Stoker’s infamous Dracula. Sinister events unfold when Eugene and his father’s […]

Queer Horror Thriller, SPIRAL, Sees New Neighbors Get Wary Of Old Terrors In The Official Trailer

Lee B. Golden III

Incontrol director Kurtis David Harder has endured a festive run in the festivals with his latest queer horror thriller, Spiral. Shudder is now running an official trailer ahead of the film’s exclusive release on AMC’s horror streaming service in the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand beginning September 17. Malik (Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, American Horror Story, Canada’s Drag Race) and Aaron (Ari Cohen, IT: CHAPTER TWO) move to a small town in search of a better environment for them and their 16-year-old daughter (Jennifer Laporte, Web of Dreams). But nothing is as it seems as something sinister lies behind the picturesque homes and welcoming faces of their new neighbors (Lochlyn Munro, CW’s Riverdale). A horror film for the current age, SPIRAL skillfully dissects themes of ostracization, otherness, and the cycles of societal rejection and hate, led by a breakout performance by Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman. With Ty Wood and Chandra West. Written […]
