MMA fighter Tharoth Sam takes on Céline Tran in an exclusive clip from JAILBREAK, releasing on Digital and VOD this Friday!
The campaign is in full swing for director Jimmy Henderson’s new movie, Jailbreak. The most recent teaser offered a meaty whiff of the exciting action to come while the rewarding factor of this latest affair stems from the coming onslaught of screenfighting talent straight from Cambodia and abroad. Lead actor Dara Our sure proved himself in this regard with Henderson’s Hanuman a few years ago, as has UK actor and martial artist Jean-Paul Ly following a number of action credits such as Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange and hit TV series, Cuckoo. Thus, challenging as it is to snag an opportunity to stand out more prominently in leading film roles past stunt performance, it always helps that there are filmmakers who recognize talent and potential when they see it. Jailbreak isn’t the first example of this and rest assured, it won’t be the last. SYNOPSIS: A group […]
Four years in writing here at my blog have seen quite a bit of upscaling for many people that I’ve covered. English martial artist and stuntman Jean-Paul Ly is certainly someone I haven’t left out of my purview in the time since he welcomed me into his social circle, and especially as rewarding as it continues to be through his progression as a stunt and fight coordinator and actor with several credits including Lucy, Jon M. Chu’s Now You See Me 2, TV drama Cuckoo, and Colin Emerson’s 2015 action short, Dead End. He’s got a few other roles now upcoming aside from that of what now looks to be another major step forward for the Cambodian film industry by way of filmmaker Jimmy Henderson with the new action comedy, Jailbreak from Puprom Entertainment and Kongchak Pictures. Ly joins Henderson’s Hanuman (2015) cast – Bokator exponent Dara Ours and actor […]
Dating back just a few years ago, it’s easy to see just how surprising it would be to see someone like former AV star Celine Tran tackle action roles in her transition. Thankfully it hasn’t been at all for naught with a small spate of action jewels currently on YouTube, and notably, her latest forthcoming appearance in Jimmy Henderson’s new martial arts action comedy, Jailbreak, now packages for a January 31 release in Cambodia next year while other releases remain pending. The film, from producer Loy Te at Kongchak Pictures is the latest from Henderson who directed the local vigilante action thriller, Hanuman a few years ago. Tran stars as the central villain of film as the leader of a deadly gang who lie in wait at Tiger Island Prison to ambush the five tactical Special Forces officers escorting a high-profile criminal who holds sensitive information that can bring her […]
Cambodian action on film has been slowly on the comeback in recent years as with several parts of Asia’s film field. Director Jimmy Henderson has been on the forefront of those efforts for some time now, and notably with headlining actor and martial artist Dara Ours for the vigilante action thriller, Hanuman. That film’s release otherwise remains local at present while the the two have since reunited with a sprawling new endeavor brimming with some surefire promise. Joining with producer Loy Te among those making things happen over at Kongchak Pictures, the new action comedy, Jailbreak, has since moved into post production after wrapping over the summer with a 2017 release now in tow, and in the good graces of former AV star Celine Tran now ready for a career milestone of her own in the action genre. SYNOPSIS: A unit of five Special Forces officers are on a mission […]
Taking a gander at Cambodia for a bit, a new film is on the horizon from director Jimmy Henderson who caught much of our attention a few years ago with his feature debut, Hanuman. The film, a vigilante revenge thriller starring actor and martial artist Dara Ours, doesn’t have any overseas distribution beyond the region just yet, but has been released locally and screened among a few including myself, and while low in budget with some corners cut, the film delivers good and plenty on what it promises when it comes to its fight sequences. Thus, it serves up a nice little dish when it comes to introducing moviegoers to Cambodian martial art, Bokator, and what makes it even more interesting is how it will be applied for what now awaits in Henderson’s latest, Jailbreak, which begins filming in a little less than a few weeks. The film’s active development […]
Far and away from her former moniker as an adult film star, you may have seen actress Céline Tran in any number of shortfilms and demos she has done in the last few years to re-establish herself. Such projects include French graphic novel action horror concept, Heartbreaker, and Godefroy Ryckewaert’s Bladed Minds swordfighting shortfilm, and both have been exemplary in signaling Tran’s own hard-earning ascension into action cinema stardom. As such, her efforts have not been for naught as of this week with word of her casting in Jimmy Henderson’s new Cambodian action comedy, Jailbreak, from Puprom Entertainment and Kongchak Pictures. Press was announced in Cambodia on Friday with news of Tran’s addition in the company of Henderson who produces along with Loy Te, and lead actors, Hanuman star Dara Ours and co-star Savin Philip, as well as actor Jean-Paul Ly (stunts credited for Luc Besson’s Lucy, Jon M. Chu’s Now […]
Well, my weekend didn’t let up. Click here and you’ll learn one of the few reason why. Apart from that, I’d say it was pretty exciting…and loaded. As we speak, I’ve only just finished the Hit List on the same day as you’re now seeing it, so this was cutting it pretty close! Cutting to the chase and getting the ball rolling this week is a new playlist packed with stunt reels, but I thought I’d get things started with a bit of style first. Actress and martial artist Tess Kielhamer‘s latest on-video treatment of Bagua Eagle style Kung Fu seems fitting, as is Cecep Arif Rahman sporting some Silat of his own. Following that are the additions of new reels from stunt players Bryan Sloyer, Holly McCredden, Peter Pedrero, Jay Kwon and Blake Harbour with exciting new demo reels rounding out the playlist courtesy of the sexy femme fatale […]
Another big week has rolled by for some more amazing feats of independent action for domestic and international, with at least a few gems lending a spotlight to longstanding thespians respective to their own bases. These Hit Lists are always so loaded with content so I hope you are all able to keep up, too. That said, let’s get the show going here with some notable fight, stunt and tricking reels in the following embedded playlist, and a few of these are quite the favorites among some fans out there. Jessie Graff‘s most recent reel came out in April and so I’ve finally caught up with it myself, in addition to many more performers, including Katie Kramer, Esther Ballesteros, Michael Lehr, Goran Stjepanovic, Matt Mullins, Peter Jang, Aaron Toney, Jordan Okubo, the EMC Monkeys and the amazingly talented Celine Tran in a beautiful sword performance video from Godefroy Ryckewaert (if you’d like […]
It’s been another amazing year of presenting independent action to help their respective creators attain bigger audiences. There were a few that were supposed to come out by now, but unfortunately some of those (as usual) tend to take longer, whether or not they have to do with post-production or other plans for allocation. Maybe 2015 will bring better, much deserved prospects. Action films need to get better, and the folks included in this week’s Hit List are just a handful of people worthy to help in this cause. What better way to celebrate post-holiday cheer than to watch two Santas duke it out to see which one is more badass?! It’s Good Santa vs. Evil Santa performed by Italian stuntfighting team D-Unit’s own Mirco Cazzol and Loris Ripamonti in Mission: Impossible – Christmas Protocol! Here is another new gem from Canadian stunt team, Eclipse Stunts with a newly released […]
Former pornstar turned comic-book co-creator and author Celine Tran is heating things up this summer having recently debuted her newly evolving skill set in action performance for films with the shortfilm pitch for the new comic book series, Heartbreaker. To say the least, much of the response appears to be nothing short of upbeat and optimistic as it not only presented a look into a brand new superheroine franchise, but a new rising star in the process of completely reinventing herself for the world of action cinema. Well, if you thought there was any indication that Heartbreaker would be the end-all-be-all for Tran‘s latest experimental ventures in the genre, then you couldn’t be more wrong. She’s taking it quite seriously having already trained with a handful of stunt professionals in a few parts of the world, including Wild Stunts member Kefi Abrikh and independent filmmaker Godefroy Ryckewaert who popped up […]
It is not often that you see adult entertainment performers step into other aspects of film and acting, and there are quite a few people out there who are doing just that. If you would like an example, then look no further than actress and ex-porn star Céline Tran (formerly known as “Katsuni”), who is now taking her interests into the fun-filled world of comic book lore with Heartbreaker, a new edition of 619 Label’s French comic book anthology, Doggybags, from author, cartoonist and artistic director, Run (a.k.a. William Fox). And how do you suppose they would market this new installation? Well, the new shortfilm promo below should answer that question, directed by Run and featuring Tran in the lead role as our black-clad sword-wielding, vampire vaporizing superheroine in a full-on assault that takes bullet ballet to a whole new level of sexy! Wild Stunts (Europe) member Vincent Gatinaud designed […]
