THE HUNT: Universal Relaunches Craig Zobel’s Dystopian Thriller With A New Trailer, Poster And March Release Date

Craig Zobel’s long-delayed dystopian thriller, The Hunt, is finally gearing up with a new poster, trailer and release date set for March 13. THR broke the story on Tuesday with statements from producer Jason Blum and screenwriter Damon Lindelof. The move comes seven months after Universal Pictures yanked the ad campaign back in August and shelved the release due to last year’s string of mass shootings, and its neighboring tangibility to the film’s outlandish political satire and over-the-top violence. Conservative pundits, needless to say, were more angered at the film’s plot in which rural America becomes a hunting ground for elitist liberal snobs to kill right-wing “deplorables” for sport. Netflix series GLOW actress Betty Gilpin isn’t sticking around too long to look for help from strangers in her current predicament. Nope. She’s on a mission of complete and total survival and reprisal with her latest stake in Craig Zobel’s new social thriller, The Hunt, coming to theaters September 27. Craig Zobel To Helm Politically Charged Action Thriller THE HUNT For Blumhouse And Universal

Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse have reportedly penned a project now being housed in the auspices of Blumhouse and Universal Pictures following a competitive situation. The film in question is titled The Hunt, which is being described over at the The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog as a politically charged action thriller that “…takes its cues from the current political climate in America and aggressive nature of right versus the left — taking it to a more extreme, and violent, level.” The project marks the latest for the duo since working on HBO drama, The Leftovers with Craig Zobel who is set to direct the new action thriller.
