Mike Wiluan’s BUFFALO BOYS Teases Explosive Western Action And Thrills
Mike Wiluan’s period Western actioner, Buffalo Boys is off to a roaring start this week with the unveiling our first official teaser. Wiluan, best known for producing ‘Mo Bros thrillers Macabre, Headshot and Liam O’Donnell’s upcoming Beyond Skyline, makes his directorial debut on the Indonesia-Singapore co-production which joins Java Heat co-star Ario Bayu with Power Rangers: Dino Charge and Hyperforce star, actor and martial artist Yoshi Sudarso making his own big screen debut. Wiluan penned the script with Raymond Lee which centers on Bayu and Sudarso in the respective roles of Jamar and Suwo, two brothers of Javanese descent who set out on a mission of vengeance for their father’s death against corrupt Dutch colonialists in the 1800s. RAFIRA: Raja Ilya, Yayan Ruhian And Donny Alamsyah Cast In New Indonesian Action Thriller For 2018 Shoot
Singapore-based 108 Media and leading Southeast Asian entertainment banner, Aurora Media Holdings, have announced a co-production slate of several films for 2018. Buried in the Variety report is the existence of a new Indonesian action thriller, Rafira, which goes before cameras in the Spring in Indonesia and Malaysia. As Variety reported on Thursday, Rafira centers on a politician’s daughter who is kidnapped at her own wedding, and the violent fallout from a vengeful father. Actress Raja Ilya and The Raid franchise cohorts Donny Alamsyah, and Yayan Ruhian lead the cast of the film with no word yet on who will sit in the director’s chair. The film stand as one of ten to fifteen film and TV project that 108 and Aurora will acquire and develop, as well as finance, produce, distribute and license across genres annually for the global market. Director Anggy Umbara is ready to darken things a bit after going the action comedy route with his latest sequel stint, Comic 8: Casino Kings. His newest endeavor as of the past year or so are now culminating very nicely with a slick new trailer now making the rounds for the new film, 3, pitting futuristic aesthetics with gritty and hardcore storytelling and characters grounded in a millieu of uncertainty, as well as assuring thrills and hard-hitting action. There’s no English synopsis but there’s an Indonesian insert in the descruption of the trailer which also has English subtitles to outline a good idea of what’s happening: longstanding philosophical and ideological differences among bitter friends, mainly. Comic 8 franchise director Anggy Umbara has a new film on the horizon followng its ceremonious announcement in January and subsequent production as of February. The title, 3: Alif Nam Mim bears a distinct underlying reference to the first three letters of the Quran which may by much more decipherable to those knowledgeable of it, but the film it adheres to definitely looks like it will be going to be an exciting martial arts film in some capacity.
