Today is all things John Wick as Lionsgate queues up fans for a tenth anniversarial re-release on November 3 and 6 through Fathom Events. A new poster is being doled out as well with more below and just beneath the artwork. SANTA MONICA, Calif., October 24, 2024—Today marks the tenth anniversary of the October 24, 2014 release of John Wick, the movie that redefined the action genre, starring Keanu Reeves, directed by Chad Stahelski, written by Derek Kolstad, and produced by Basil Iwanyk, David Leitch, Eva Longoria, and Michael Witherill. With each successive film in the franchise, the universe of John Wick has expanded, the stakes raised, and—for the filmmakers—the challenge to outdo themselves accepted. To celebrate ten years since the film that started it all, Lionsgate will celebrate a decade of Wick by kicking off a year of special events, anniversary screenings, new experiences, and collectible merchandise, culminating in […]
Alice Lucy & Casper Van Dien star in this one-night-only event that is dripping with blood…and cheese! Fathom Events is partnering with Raven Banner Releasing and Swissploitation Films for a one-night only U.S. theatrical presentation of Mad Heidi on June 21 at 7:00p.m. local time. The film, from directors Johannes Hartmann and Sandro Klopfstein, circled the festivals last year to wide acclaim and ceremony before hitting a limited online on-Demand release late last year. Mad Heidi is billed as a modern grindhouse “Swissploitation” epic that took a five year-long ground-up effort to develop and produce. Tickets go on sale beginning Friday at the official website, with to Fathom Events hosting screenings with a exclusive recorded intro by the film duo and lead actors Alice Lucy and Casper Van Dien. Canada screenings will be held select Cineplex locations on the same evening. Mad Heidi initially made waves for its innovative crowdfunded […]
While oddly not yet officially announced by Fathom Events (as of writing), screenings for a one-day only showing of SHIN KAMEN RIDER, the latest in the Shin Japan Heroes Universe by Hideaki Anno, have started to appear! While not all areas have had showings booked yet, fans in the United States should start checking their local cinemas and Fandango for listings for a one day showing for May 31st! An updated re-interpretation of the original, legendary story by mangaka Shotaro Ishinomori, director and writer Anno ( Evangelion series, Shin Godzilla) has apparently succeeded in his creative vision for SHIN KAMEN RIDER, grossing ¥1.5 billion ($11.66 million) as of April 10, and loads of critical praise. It even got a few tweets recently from one of the only film reviewers this writer follows – Hideo Kojima. In the film, a man is kidnapped by a cult, known by the abbreviated name SHOCKER (Sustainable […]
Fathom Events is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of GODZILLA: TOKYO SOS in a big way! Never screened in U.S. theatres, the film will be hitting the big screen for a one night special showing, and even includes a bonus short film as part of the screening. A sequel to 2002’s Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, TOKYO SOS was the 28th film in the franchise, and featured Godzilla, Mothra, and Mechagodzilla, called Kiryu in the film. A modest box office and critical success, while it has been available on physical media several times over, the film has never been released to U.S. theatres. Fathom is rectifying that with a special showing of the film nationwide on March 22, 2023. As a special bonus, the screening will include a showing of Godzilla vs. Gigan Rex, a short which debuted at the Japan Godzilla Festival in 2022 as a special showing, and never before been shown […]
Consider this a fair reminder that next month will be a great time to catch Shin Ultraman on the big screen in the U.S. where and when available. Fathom Events is out and about as of Tuesday with the promo above featuring an intro from the man himself, Takumi Saito who headlines the film in the title role, and there’s more info at the official website if you’ve missed it somehow. Shinji Higuchi directed the pic from a script by Hideaki Anno. You’re welcome to spool through our own reviews from the film’s screening circuit this past summer courtesy of myself and contributor Edward Orndorff.

I remember first catching the trailer for Luc Besson’s upcoming sci-fi, Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets and likening it to the director’s equally splendid intergalactic futuristic sci-fi bid, The Fifth Element. Granted the film’s over-the-top bravado and almost anime-style delivery, the formula itself applied a groundbreaking tale that garnered the film’s succession at the box office nearly 20 years ago. 20 years later, The Fifth Element is now heading back to limited theaters this May for a two-day anniversary screening event. The presentation will be shown on May 14 and May 17 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm (both local time), in 4K resolution hosted by Fathom Events and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment prior to the film’s then-homebound release debut on 4K Ultra HD on July 11. Per the announcement: From its opening scenes in 1914 Egypt to its towering views of 23rd Century New York City, and its […]
I couldn’t tell you much about any of the Resident Evil films, or the games for that matter. I’ve only seen maybe four out of the what? Six…live-action movies from Sony? Ugh…anyway, maybe one day I’ll catch up. As for now, there’s also been a trilogy of CG-animated feature films based on the game property as well dating back to 2008, and now the third, Resident Evil: Vendetta, is heading to select theaters in North America through Fathom Events for one night only on July 19 following its wide release on May 27. Fathom’s June event is serviced in part with Park Circus and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions. “We are thrilled to bring ‘RESIDENT EVIL: VENDETTA’ to the big screen for its U.S. debut,” Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said. “This sequel is even scarier and more thrill-inducing than the previous titles, with mind-blowing CG animation that should be seen […]

The rising popularity of the Yokai Watch franchise appears to have done wonders for manga author Konishi Noriyuki. Three years following its proliferation through numerous companies worldwide with the sales of books, toys, games and a successful current two season anime run, two animated feature films have also come into fruition with the 2014 installment, Yo-kai Watch the Movie: The Secret is Created, Nyan!. Helmers Takahashi Shigeharu and Ushiro Shinji directed the film as well as its 2015 follow-up, Yo-kai Watch the Movie 2: King Enma and the 5 Stories, Nyan! and pending third film which premieres in Japan this December. Thus, with the trilogy in tow as it is, it appears that the former is now headed for a one-day opening in North America under the title, Yo-kai Watch: The Movie, courtesy of Eleven Arts by way of Fathom Events, and a fresh new trailer has begun running ahead […]
