Looks like we’re going Japanese as of Thursday as we wrap up week three of four in counting down through 100 movie titles to keep an eye on in 2019. It’s been a pace of five-a-day (hence the title, and so here are five more! Musashi: Bushidou director Mikami Yasuo’s return to the helm will now see Hosoda Yoshihiko leading the upcoming period pic about the legendary swordsman and his fated duel with rivaling Sasaki Kojiro, to be played by Matsudaira Ken. As per usual, here is another fiver: Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi: Radha Krishna Jagalarmudi’s own take on the Queen of Jhansi tale is but one of two arriving in 2019, chronicling her reign on the battlefield in her campaign against British rule. Actress Kangana Ranault stars in the film which opens on January 25. Swords & Sceptres: The Rani Of Jhansi: The 19th century heroine is also the center of debut director Swati Bhise’s own efforts at exalting her story on the big screen starring Devika Bhise. This one is reportedly expected to arrive in the summer. Booyah! We’ve reached the halfway point of this journey at long last as we count out 100 movies to look out for in 2019. Bringing the total to 50, here are five more: Nightshooters: Marc Price’s Jean-Paul Ly headliner became a Fall film festival favorite, centered on a group of indie filmmakers trapped in a condemned tower block and forced to fight for their lives against murderous gangsters. This one is set to release in the U.K. on Boxing Day as pre-ordering is now underway. 14 Fists: The aforementioned title also brings us what lies ahead for this, one of several projects that Ly has his hands on. Plot details are still a mystery as January production nears and with all the time in the world next year to see what producer and debut feature director Bart Ruspoli has in store. Here are the next five: Outbreak Z: An action choreographer and stuntman fresh from his run with Netflix’s third and final season of Daredevil, Chris Brewster is setting forth on his feature directing action horror debut which commences filming later this year or early next year. The story sees Callie and Ethan lead their team through an overrun college in search of a man who has possession of a possible vaccine to the ‘Zombie’ virus. Hopefully this will be, at the very least, a late 2019 arrival as we await further updates. Continuing the countdown, we’re listing 100 movie titles at five per day going into the holidays and the coming year. Today’s five brings us to the quartermile! Asura: As far as expenses go, stunt professional Peng Zhang’s directorial debut was an ambitious feat aimed for this past summer that should have gone off without a hitch. After being pulled from its two-day theatrical run with a commerical bomb in its wake, the film’s backers hyped a hopeful re-release thereafter for the fantasy epic starring Leo Wu and Zhang Yishang. Could those hopes be prospective this year? We’ll find out soon enough.
