THE MANDALORIAN’s Cara Dune To Be Recast

Contributors to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog are reporting that a new actress may stake her claim in the co-starring role of The Mandalorian character, Cara Dune. The role was previously played by former MMA star Gina Carano, who was fired from the show and released from her agency last week following backlash over a social media post equating being a conservative in 2021 to being Jewish in 1940s Germany. Insiders say Cara Dune wasn’t part of the Star Wars series next up, a Boba Fett spinoff, but expect that the character will be recast down the road, for both story and merchandising reasons. Said post was one in a series of controversial posts stretching back to late last year or so. DAUGHTER OF THE WOLF Howls Online With A Brand New U.S. Trailer

After snagging the rights to sci-fi space-Nazi romp sequel, Iron Sky: The Coming Race, Vertical Entertainment has recurred on the radar once more this month with its forthcoming release of David Hackl’s new thriller, Daughter Of The Wolf. Releasing day-and-date on June 14, Daughter Of The Wolf returns Gina Carano back to the screen as Clair McKenna, an ex-military specialist on a harrowing mission to rescue her son from a group of ransomers looking to collect the large fortune she’s inherited from her late father. The official U.S. trailer is finally online and looks way better than the initial trailer from earlier this year; that trailer got taken down in about a day when an overseas distro banner jumped the gun. Hence, the trailer above in all its awesome appeal. Carano is joined by Richard Dreyfuss, Brendan Fehr, Sydelle Noel and Anton Gillis-Adelman.

THE MANDALORIAN: Check Out The Official Logo And A Quartet Of First Look Stills From The Disney+ Series

The panel over at Star Wars Celebration this weekend for upcoming series, The Mandalorian, were reluctant to reveal any footage in the live-stream beyond the indoor crowd (save for the ones who braved it with their phones and leaked it on YouTube). Nevertheless, Disney/Lucasfilm proudly revealed several first looks at some of the key characters in costume via social media which you can view below. After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. REVIEW: ‘Kickboxer’ Returns With A ‘VENGEANCE’

Remakes are a dime a dozen in 2016. Oftentimes, a studio will grave-rob a long dorment franchise and forcibly modernize it so that they can sell the name recognition while also trying to appeal to modern audiences. Oftentimes, this means reducing the goofy/dated charm of the original and injecting an unhealthy dose of gritty realism to make it feel more “modern”; results may vary. Somehow, John Stockwell’s Kickboxer: Vengeance dodges this pitfall and spin kicks it in its cynical face. It somehow manages to be the 2016 equivalent of the 1991 original. Its level of grittiness is comparable to Kickboxer’s early-90s “grittiness” while maintaining the lighter tone that helped make the original so entertaining.
