SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK Teases New Lana Del Rey Track In The Newest Trailer

CBS Films and eOne proudly presented their newest trailer for André Øvredal’s Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark. Marketing for the new horror spectacle is now also host to the latest incarnation of Donovan’s 1966 hit song, “Season of the Witch”, re-recorded by Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Lana Del Rey. The new song itself premieres on August 9 next to the film, selected as the film itself takes place two years after the song’s debut on Donovan’s album, Sunshine Superman. Of course those shelves held the popular book Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, written by Alvin Schwartz and illustrated by Stephen Gammell. Sequel expectations for dorector Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 sci-fi monster epic, Pacific Rim, have been somewhat of a rollercoaster. The film generally didn’t do well enough to greenlight a follow-up right away, but it ultimately earned a cult following from fans who’ve simply wanted to see more. A year later, both del Toro and Legendary’s own Thomas Tull invested updates of their own before announcing an April 2017 release (before it was pushed back four months), while plans were in motion to develop graphic novels and an animated series to tie-in to both films. Guillermo Del Toro Quells Fans' Woes With PACIFIC RIM 2 Hopes

Director Guillermo Del Toro is currently tapped to direct an adaptation of the 1967 medical thriller, Fantastic Voyage for 20th Century Fox as of news last week. That said, the update brought preceding concerns regarding whether or not Del Toro would be able to move forward with the long-awaited Pacific Rim 2, a sequel to the Jaeger V. Kaiju monster cult hit. Essentially, the word was that the film, previously clocked for an April 2017 date, was canned or otherwise indefinitely shelved. Devastating, yes. If you’re wondering at all why it is that Crimson Peak helmer Guillermo Del Toro hasn’t made a peep about Pacific Rim 2, you would be forgiven for thinking he was actually busy working on it. In that case, sorry to burst your bubble. THR now brings news that those efforts are off the table indefinitely with the director now in talks to boarding a remake of the 1966 film, Fantastic Voyage. 20th Century Fox and James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment are backing the project with a story initially set during the Cold War when a group scientists are tasked with miniaturizing themselves down to atomic size to save the life of a scientist after a near-fatal attempt on his life. As of this week, Netflix users can look forward to a slate of new original series content for the subscription platform. It’s great news for fans of 80’s sci-fi and robot animation fanfare who can now expect a reimagining of the classic series, Voltron, as well as followers of Guillermo Del Toro in lieu of a serial transition of his 2015 book series, Trollhunters. It’s also worth noting that both properties have been in feature film development for some years up to now at the behest of their respective studios, though it’s fair to say now that some folks see serial adaptations as the best possible solution for these kinds of projects. PACIFIC RIM 2 Gets A Target Release Date!

A sequel to last year’s modest blockbuster success story, Pacific Rim, has been in development for a while now. It wasn’t going to happen right away since earning only a little over half its budget back, but I suppose grossing that same number four times over globally was pretty helpful. But most importantly, director Guillermo Del Toro wanted to do it, and so did Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull. And following up with earlier reports of the director drafting a sequel with writer Zak Penn, a new video announcement is available online for the targeted theatrical release date of April 7, 2017 for Pacific Rim 2, preceded by an animated series set in the film’s universe. There were a lot of mixed reactions upon last year’s release of director Guillermo del Toro‘s most recent robo-juggernaut vs. monster spectacle, Pacific Rim. The film did okay at the box office, but not great, so the chance of a sequel remained a bit blurry thereafter. And yes, they still are, although that hasn’t stopped del Toro from doing his best to put a new script together for the sequel with screenwriter Zak Penn. “I’m working very, very hard with Zak Penn,” del Toro says. “We’ve been working for a few months now in secret. We found a way to twist it around.
