A 2027 release date is reportedly in the works.
A 2027 release date is reportedly in the works.
It’s been a reboot in the making since 2008 with Highlander taking the step to its long and eternal journey through development hell. With this, fans of the fantasy sword franchise fave are reveling in the news affirming Lionsgate’s commitment to the upcoming film as this week’s AFM events approach, according to Deadline‘s Andreas Wiseman. The film joins Man Of Steel and “The Witcher” series star Henry Cavill following his addition to the project in 2021, with none other than stunt multihyphenate and proven John Wick saga director Chad Stahelski, who some fans might even say has risen the bar when it comes to action direction, having led the charge with four movies totaling just under nine hours, all chronicling one former assassin’s quest for vengeance and redemption in a world – all its own – of organized crime. The four-part action saga, packed with enough breakneck fight choreography, gun-fu, […]
Gamers and fans of fantasy novels alike are no stranger to Geralt of Rivia and the world of The Witcher. Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels found international success after well known game developers CD Projekt Red released their series of 3rd person action games set in the world, and propelled it’s protagonist to gaming stardom. Netflix would end up acquiring the license for the books to create it’s hit drama series, which has already been confirmed for a third season as of September 2021. Scheduled for release December 17th and remaining exclusive to the platform, Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Enola Holmes) plays protagonist Geralt, a monster hunter called a Witcher. Armed with spells and steel, we rejoin Geralt after he reconnects with Princess Ciri, whom is linked to Geralt by fate, even before her birth. However, we do not rejoin the world as it was at the end of season one. […]
Prolific stunt multi-hyphenate and filmmmaker Chad Stahelski has had his name thrown in the mix for a plethora of titles, whilst working to build what he’s helped contribute in the current four-part Keanu Reeves-led John Wick franchise for Lionsgate. Still, he’s remained steadfast with a promise to resurrect cult classic swordplay epic, Highlander, after landing the project in 2016, and so what with all the concern might be about whether or not it’s still happening, Deadline‘s Justin Kroll is here to confirm the movie announcing Henry Cavill (Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Netflix’s The Witcher, Mission: Impossible – Fallout) as in talks for the reboot. Russell Mulcahy directed the 1986 Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery starrer, telling of a 16th-century Scotsman forged in the heat of battle as one in a diaspora of immortals, all drawn to battle each other for The Prize. His greatest battle then sees him living in […]
The official trailer is now out for The Witcher, making its first season television run on Netflix based on the hit novel saga. Henry Cavill leads the way for the show’s eight-episode December 20 premiere. Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

The fate of Warner Bros.’ DCEU feature slate remains unclear. That’s not stopping Henry Cavill from loading his arms and swinging hard and heavy like he did in this summer’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout, a segue now as he makes his chartered approach toward toplining Netflix‘s eight-episode production of The Witcher, adapting Andrzej Sapkowski’s beloved short stories and novels. Cavill, who will lead the cast of The Witcher saga as Geralt of Rivia, comes full circle with his attachment to the series upon […]
If the last Mission: Impossible installment proved nothing else, it proved that one of Paramount’s biggest franchises can deliver on even bigger terms each time. Now six films in with Mission: Impossible – FALLOUT, the latest chapter has more than revealed itself to be another highly anticipated sequel. The fact that its star, Tom Cruise, continues to delve further into death-defying stunts and to the point of injuring himself in the process speaks highly to how far he’ll go to entertain audiences. Whether or not the spectacle takes in a film that measures with critical approval remains to be seen, while in fairness, Christopher McQuarrie directed its predecessor themed Rogue Nation, which became the best in the series by far. Throw in Henry Cavill with cinema’s most infamous mustache – queuing the likelihood of another hilarious “Honest Trailers” jab from the cats at Screen Junkies and rest assured, this film […]
Few films have the kind of rocky origin story that Justice League has had. Its predecessor, the “surefire hit” Batman v Superman, was savaged by critics and audiences alike. The harshest responses of all came from the fanboy community, who reacted as if Zach Snyder had broken into their houses and destroyed all their memorabilia in front of them. Warner Bros., a studio that has become the poster child for overreacting, proceeded to butcher Suicide Squad in hopes of making it more audience friendly (they failed) and started trying to micromanage JL. Things got worse last March when Snyder had to leave the project entirely due to the tragic suicide of his daughter – something that more than a few fanboys treated like poetic justice for making a comic book movie they didn’t like. Snyder’s replacement for the (extensive) reshoots and post-production couldn’t have been more different from him; Avengers […]
Just a little under a few years ago, Warner Bros. laid out plans for a slate of DC Comics movies to assemble a formidable cinematic universe opposite Marvel following Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel, a film that essentially put a terrific new version on the map for movie goers. Since then and for many a fan and optimist, hopes were high as fans got ready for Snyder’s Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice ahead of Patty Jenkins’s Wonder Woman among other titles still forthcoming. Fast forward two years later following the wiggly performances of BvS: DoJ and director David Ayer’s Suicide Squad over the weekend, and it appears that things are still no enough. Both films have weighed with controversy despite box office earnings with the latter just recently raking in with well over $135 million within its global $267 million gross, though the question remains as to whether or […]
Warner Bros. To each his and her own on the opinions regarding the full trailers for Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice. I wasn’t hugely impressed despite my own anticipation of the film as I felt they were more eager to showoff the DC Trinity more than anything, and frankly, I think WB should slow down before revealing too much. Why? Well, honestly I’m driven solely by the hype that even though we’re hinting at Wonder Woman from time to time, all of the much smaller promos have been focused primarily on the general basis of the film from its title encircling actors Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. The tone and overall delivery is quite exciting and with more than a month away from the film’s premieres in late March, it’s taken nothing away from me in just seeing the footage of Batman and Superman boil little […]
At long last, we are approximately two months away from the release of director Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. A fourth trailer is now online while Warner Bros. continues its push with several TV spots and a clip of which we can expect more in the remaining weeks. SYNOPSIS: Following his titanic struggle against General Zod, Metropolis has been razed to the ground and Superman is the most controversial figure in the world. While for many he is still an emblem of hope, a growing number of people consider him a threat to humanity, seeking justice for the chaos he has brought to Earth. As far as Bruce Wayne is concerned, Superman is clearly a danger to society. He fears for the future of the world with such a reckless power left ungoverned, and so he dons his mask and cape to right Superman’s wrongs. The rivalry […]
Warner Bros. It’s of no fault of your own if you weren’t too impressed by the most recent event trailer late last year for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. That said, the TV spots seem to be earning a bit more praise as solely focusing on our key characters played respectively by Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill without divulging too much as the rest of it is mainly suggestive. In sum, the vague detailing is a great sell and hopefully Warner Bros. doesn’t drop the ball on the next trailer should there be one. For now, we have the latest teaser spot and it’s all we need to whet our appetite for now as the campaign continues for Zack Snyder’s new DC venture before its March 25 release. Keep this in mind while we fawn over the brand new poster below from Yahoo! Movies. Peep it below followed by […]
Are you mapping out your movie schedule for 2016? If so, then you’ll be forgiven for paying close attention to March which will probably be the biggest month in superhero movies this year. Zack Snyder’s latest, Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice now has a new TV spot with new footage centered on Henry Cavill back in the blue and red, and Ben Affleck with who has nothing short of the world’s angriest frog in his throat. Yep, that’s him as Batman, and after Superman’s coming-of-age destructive battle with Zod in Man Of Steel, he’s sick of Superman’s shit… Time to roshambo up in this mofo and as you may have guessed from earlier teasers, the Batmobile got the worst of it! SYNOPSIS: Following his titanic struggle against General Zod, Metropolis has been razed to the ground and Superman is the most controversial figure in the world. While for many […]
Following Monday night’s trailer tease, the wait is over and we now have a brand new official trailer for Zack Snyder‘s Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Time will tell how this one performs for an online audience in the wake of the record numbers within the first 24 hours of Marvel’s own Captain America: Civil War, though it’s fair to say that these late night talk show platforms may certainly prove to be a viable format. I suppose Jimmy Kimmel has no reason to protest. SYNOPSIS: Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before. Ben Affleck and […]
Aside from no longer starring in his recent efforts toward British SAS thriller, Stratton, standing the test of time on the big screen outside of the blue and red Superman outfit shouldn’t be too difficult for actor Henry Cavill. He’s got the fanbase he needs ahead of the upcoming Guy Ritchie-directed The Man From U.N.C.L.E. whereupon he’s primarily front and center and joined by actor Armie Hammer who could probably use the recovery after his last stint in The Lone Ranger. The film also services quite well as an adaptation of the classic TV series, coupled with its overall interest in a mix of espionage and suspense with a dash of international comedic wit and some sexual innuendo to boot. We’ll see how it pans out though when the film releases on August 14, but at least we’ve since garnered the new poster you see above in addition to a […]
Well, that just sucks. It was late last year that actor Henry Cavill and his brother launched their own film production banner, Promethean Productions with director Simon West finally aboard three months ago to direct British SAS actioner, Stratton which was set to begin shooting in a week. Financing had been established with a production crew in place, but apparently with just days before principal photography was set to commence, Screendaily‘s latest report has a different story to tell. Cavill has reportedly dropped out of the production due to issues regarding scheduling, casting and script changes as cited by Guy Collins, co-founder of GFM Films who were financing the picture and marketing the film and securing many pre-sales deals with distributors. “After securing many distribution deals ahead of the market, we had a really good Cannes and had closed more deals ahead of production next week,” said Collins. “But just […]
So recently the Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice trailer was unleashed upon us, eagerly peaking out the Venetian blinds of pirated videos and then, grudgingly, released officially (in clear HD!) by Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. Everyone and their mother flocked to the internet, their critical eyes cast upon the screen. “What would Zack Snyder offer?” they wondered, many of them skeptical while others still awaited the reel with sober enthusiasm. By the time it was done, polarizing opinions had been formed. All of which, in some way or the other, influenced by the film’s predecessor; the somewhat infamous Man of Steel. And though I am not a Superman fan, I find myself among the group recorded as favorable in their opinion of the film. A film, that while flawed, achieved its primary objective; to render Superman appealing to a modern audience as well as adherent fans of the […]
Well, it took a little handwringing thanks to an unceremonious leak, but Warner Bros. finally decided to release the first official trailer for the upcoming superhero showdown, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice on March 25, 2016. No Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and no Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman – we just see our two heroes highlit in various shots throughout a grim monologue that delves into contemplative theology pertaining to superheroes as “false gods” and their purpose compared to that of mortals. Of course, for our dear Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne opposite returning actor Henry Cavill following the destructive events in Man Of Steel a few years ago, clearly it’s a bit more personal. Clearly. There may be more than one trailer now that this one is out and about, as a second may actually grant its audience its previously-scheduled exclusive IMAX screening on Monday more new […]
Henry Cavill in THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. From Warner Bros. Pictures (2015) Man Of Steel star, actor Henry Cavill‘s days as a Kryptonian exile-turned-superhuman savior a la Zack Snyder will stake his claim once more next year in the growing ensemble lead-in to the Justice League two-parter in the next several years with Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice. In the meantime, while he’s not taking flight and battling intergalactic foes, he’s got plenty of other big screen titles to look forward to while maintaining other ends of film business behind the camera, including helping to manage the production of the forthcoming book adaptation, Stratton. Cavill, who has been pushing for the project under his shared Promethan Productions banner with brother Charlie and producer Rex Glensy for some time now, will be starring in the title role. Former military serviceman-turned-author pen-named Duncan Falconer launched the original eight-part literary series in […]
