Squid Game director, writer and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk has confirmed a second season is on the way for the hit series, according to a statement posted in a graphic via Netflix which reads the following: A WHOLE NEW ROUND IS COMING It took 12 years to bring the first season of ‘Squid Game’ to life last year. K.O. CLUB: ‘Squid Game’ Creator Sets Up New Feature Project
Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is undoubtedly paying huge mind to the success of his hit series on Netflix since last Fall, as the latest report from Variety confirms he’s penning the second season for a 2024 launch following January’s announcement. None of this is to say he isn’t branching out to other ideas, of course, and so it goes with trade news confirming the development of feature thriller, K.O. Club (or Killing Old People Club). Exact plot details are unknown as of late, but according to the report, it was at the MipTV marketing floor that Hwang revealed a 25-page treatment so far, inspired by the work of Italian author Umberto Eco. “It will be more violent than ‘Squid Game,’” teased Dong-hyuk, adding that he might have to hide from old people after the film comes out. Battle Erupts Within THE FORTRESS In The Newest Trailer
At some point earlier on, an international trailer was unveiled for Hwang Dong-Hyuk’s new period war drama, Namhansangseon. Of course it helps now that its new title is The Fortress for said internarional appeal and while a date is still yet to be set, the latest trailer has arrived – Korean subbed, but plenty of excellent footage to delve into with Hwang’s fourth movie. The film is based on author Kim Hoon’s 2007 Hakgojae novel publication, set amid the warring 17th century Joseon era. I’m almost certain director Hwang Dong-Hyuk’s new period drama, Namhansangseon, will be re-titled with a more international appeal by its September theatrical release.
