One More Shot is the name of the newest production underway following up last year’s One Shot from director James Nunn, and reuniting action stars Scott Adkins and Michael Jai White now in their fifth screen pairing together. The updates come following a story post featuring both actors teasing a new project in the works via Adkins’ own Instagram page where the actor also published the following reel which you can view below: Screen Media released the first film in the U.S. introducing Adkins in the role of a Navy SEAL team leader who comes under fire from a band of mercenaries while accompanying a CIA analyst to escort a suspected terrorist from a black site. Our own Matthew Essary tuned in last year with a review underscoring one key facet of the film’s successful delivery: “…what made this a dream project for James Nunn was his desire to present […]
Action star Scott Adkins and director James Nunn are two individuals who don’t let the labels of the film industry define them or the work they produce. Both have been frustratingly relegated to a tier in the movie-making system where the only way to get a film project approved is if it can be completed quickly and with a modest budget. Many, when faced with these circumstances, cut corners and lower their ambitions, content just to get something locked in before moving on to the next “for hire” gig. Nunn and Adkins are a different breed though. When faced with these limitations, both men have always strived, through thoughtful preparation and an intense work ethic, to make the highest quality film possible every time they have the opportunity. So, it’s not surprising that when the two have collaborated in the past that their combined efforts have delivered strong results. Admittedly, […]
In all earnestness, it helps for directors and producers to avoid being too gimmicky with certain methods of filmmaking. To say the least though, the single-take method has notably stood the test of time thanks to some of the most nimble direction done over the last century, and now Green Street: Underground helmer James Nunn looks to add his name to the list with none other than his newest Scott Adkins reteamer, One Shot. Written by Jamie Russell and based on a story by Nunn, One Shot centers on an elite squad of Navy SEALs led by Lt. Jake Harris, assigned to accompany a Zoe Anderson (Ashley Greene Khoury), a junior CIA analyst who intends to retrieve and escort Amin Mansur (Waleed Elgadi) detainee from a CIA black site island prison in an effort to prevent a terrorist attack on a major U.S. city. The bureaucratic brouhaha she receives from […]
In the years since I’ve had my eye on action star Scott Adkins, he’s almost never disappointed me as a fan or a critic. That wasn’t until Isaac Florentine’s The Shepherd in 2008, and with an unceremonious fight finale that paled in comparison to the riproaring sequences of his previous work, including Special Forces in 2003. Fast forward to 2016 and to say the least, I’ve become a little more objective in my fandom for the sake of critiquing movies on a larger scale than merely weighing in on how awesome fight scenes are. Gladly, using this perspective met well for me having seen director James Nunn’s 2014 action drama, Green Street 3: Underground, by far one of the few best films I had seen starring Adkins, while a slightly more modest appeal now follows in their latest pairing in part from WWE Films, Eliminators. The story sets up immediately […]
It’s almost always celebratory for martial arts fans when Scott Adkins makes the news, especially in the case of titles currently pending between now and 2017 with Boyka: Undisputed and the recently-completed Savage Dog. Thus, cue the cheers for his latest, Eliminators, reuniting with Green Street 3 helmer James Nunn, and also starring wrestler-turned-actor Wade Barrett for its November 22 release on Digital HD prior to its DVD and Blu-Ray release on December 6. SYNOPSIS: When his home in London is attacked, a former federal agent (Scott Adkins, Doctor Strange) must come out of hiding of the witness protection program to protect his daughter. With his true identity exposed to the criminal underworld, he goes on the run with Europe’s most dangerous assassin on his trail and must use every trick he knows to keep his family alive. Also starring Wade Barrett, Eliminators is a fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat thrill ride Cue […]
Director James Nunn’s MMA fight drama, Green Street Hooligans: Underground, was my first foray into his work, and gladly it was a delightful debut at that. With that in mind, Nunn is back at it once again with martial arts star Scott Adkins for the new international action thriller, Eliminators, following the announcement back in April from WWE Studios and Tea Shop & Film Company, and short bursts of pics flowing through social media in the last few months with wrestler-turned-actor Wade Barrett also starring. Further casting info will go viral in due time but the best of all is to see fight choreographer and action actor Tim Man involved as well – icing on the cake after wrapping Undisputed IV with helmer Isaac Florentine over the summer, thus promising a good year in 2016 with quite a few Adkins-starrers slated for release. For now though, we can take note […]
To date, I haven’t seen either Lexi Alexander’s or Jesse V. Johnson’s previous installations of the Green Street franchise, and in that regard, it might service you to see those films before moving onto director James Nunn‘s 2014 offering, Green Street Hooligans: Underground. Granted, it’s only an option and not hugely necessary, and opinions might differ depending on how geared you are toward the first film, but this particular movie does plenty more for the kind of film it’s meant to be, apart from whatever expectations there may have been. In the film, the Green Street Elite firm is one in many football-emboldened cliques in a sub-culture of English society that has since been outlawed with its resolve now quartered to sectioned-off areas away from public eyes. Bets are placed, faces are smashed and bloodied, teeth are chipped, egos are bruised and many a drink are drunk – such was […]
Martial arts action star and actor Scott Adkins can chalk another to his own slate of film appearances between now and next year. With Close Range wrapped, Jarhead: The Siege already underway and Undisputed 4 to begin this June, it’s a great time to stay excited for the Brit screenfighter whose career is a list of popular action hits that have played a huge role in maintaining the martial arts fanbase. For this, we turn to an exclusive report from Variety that states Adkins‘s forthcoming role in the new film, Eliminators, which begins filming in London possibly this May, reuniting Adkins with filmmaker James Nunn following their work on the 2013 pound-for-pound revenge fight thriller, Green Street 3. The film joins Adkins with Dead Man Down (2013) co-star, professional wrestler and actor stage-named Wade Barrett in a story that will forces a U.S. federal agent out of a witness protection […]
Director James Nunn is getting ready to serve up a heavy beating early next year for fans of cult martial arts superstar, Scott Adkins whose highly anticipated appearance in debut director and fellow action hero, actor Wu Jing’s Chinese commando thriller, Wolf Warrior next month in Asia. This time, the North American fanbase can also finally expect to catch Adkins in action in the upcoming long-awaited release of Nunn‘s gritty UK martial arts crime thriller, Green Street Hooligans: Underground, the third in a long, enduring trilogy based on the tellings of European football fanfare with this, a perfect revenge-fueled setting for brutal, pulse pounding action and drama with stellar fight choreography and editing by co-star Joey Ansah (Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist). SYNOPSIS: After the worldwide success of Green Street Hooligans and it’s subsequent sequel, it was inevitable that a third film would be planned. Green Street Hooligans: Underground is the […]
Going just a few weeks into October, New York Comic Con attendees and fans of martial arts action superstar Scott Adkins could not wait to meet him and the cast of his forthcoming film, Hercules: The Legend Begins; I had to miss out that weekend for work purposes. That event led to the straightforward promotional push in London for Adkins‘s latest role as a vengeful underground brawler in director James Nunn‘s newly released clandestine sports and MMA action revenge thriller, Green Street 3: Never Back Down. I was contacted by event organizer Kerry Porter who invited me to the exclusive cast and crew screening of the film in London. Unfortunately, not living in London dimmed those hopes a bit, but I was fortunate to have Kerry’s help in being able to share my platform with the director, and essentially promote the film on Film Combat Syndicate. Green Street 3: Never […]

With Tower Block director James Nunn third in line after first and second helmers Lexi Alexander (Green Steeet Hooligans, Punisher: War Zone) and Jesse V. Johnson (Green Street 2: Stand Your Ground, The Package), the film is the third installment in the epic franchise based on a novel by Dougie Brimson, highlighting the grim, brutal life of football hooliganism. Ninja: Shadow Of A Tear star Scott Adkins leads along with Jack Doolan, Mark Wingett, Lee Charles, Casey Barnfield and Billy Cook, in addition to Christian Howard and co-star/fight choreographer Joey Ansah (Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist).
