It’s been a while since this title began streaming the trailer but I figure it won’t hurt to pick it up… It’s Tanya Wexler’s new action comedy, Jolt, in which actress Kate Beckinsale plays a woman whose treatment for a violent neurological disorder becomes the ultimate gauge for own her sheer will when she sets out to avenge the murder of her new boyfriend. Amazon Prime is releasing the film on July 23, with a cast that also lists Jai Courtney, Stanley Tucci and more. The streamer’s announcement was a little too in-depth so I’m using my own wording here but the trailer sells the goods.
Hysteria helmer Tanya Wexler’s recurring career in comedic film and TV direction will continue going forward with Millennium Media on action pic, Jolt, according to Andreas Wiseman at Deadline. Underworld franchise and Total Recall actress Kate Beckinsale who recurs on ITV/Amazon series, The Widow, is set to lead the pic as it centers on a badass bouncer who sets out to avenge the murder of the only guy she’s ever fallen for. The catch: she must control her homicidal rage or withstand being jolted by the electrolined vest she wears to keep her in check. “Jolt is a kick-ass and painfully funny script,” Wexler said. “When I saw that Kate Beckinsale was attached to play the lead, I jumped at the opportunity to make the movie. This is the movie for right now — a revenge-action film for every woman (and man) who wants to turn their inner ‘Thelma & […]
There’s no question on my end that the overall screen caliber of actress Kate Beckinsale is something distinctively worth appreciating. The Kevin Grevioux-inspired Underworld franchise has been an enduring one with four movies in, and with our leading making it work every step of the way (sans Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans) as a grand fantasy horror epic with stylish action, slick costuming and a brooding atmosphere to fit the bill. Here and now though, we take to the latest treatment of the franchise for a fifth outing with Underworld: Blood Wars, which opens on January 6, 2017 from Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment. Anna Foerster makes her directotial debut following her work on Starz series, Outlander, in addition to the 2004 disaster flick, The Day After Tomorrow and 2013 hostage actioner White House Down, thus, transcribing some of her experience to the big screen by way Grevioux’s vision. And […]
It was last year that Lakeshore Entertainment announced the production of director Anna Foerster’s induction to the epic Vampire V Lycan saga for the fifth Underworld movie. Apparently as far as titles go, Underworld: Next Generation wasn’t hugely feasible, and so it was through social media that the production waited and deliberated what its newest title will be. The Divergent Series co-star Theo James is also rejoining the action horror franchise as is Charles Dance. Tobias Menzies and Lara Pulver round out the cast with James Faulkner, Peter Andersson, newcome actress Clementine Nicholson, and actor Bradley James and Daisy Head.

The action horror genre remains ever more ripe with lycan and vampire fandom for the current four-movie installment of the Underworld franchise which began in 2003, and it was just last August that Lakeshore Entertainment stated they were rebooting the franchise with a fifth film tentatively titled Underworld: Next Generation. At the time, a cast wasn’t in place, but updates have arrived on this end and the franchise is officially going forward with two of its principal cast members. THR writes that actress Kate Beckinsale is set to reprise her role as vampire warrior ‘Selene’ with the Divergent Series co-star, actor Theo James returning as her ally, David. Cory Goodman wrote the script for Anna Foerster, who directed episodes for Starz series, Outlander, and served as director of photography for the 2004 disaster flick, The Day After Tomorrow and 2013 hostage flick, White House Down, to helm with a story […]
Eleven years doesn’t really seem too far off when recalling actress Kate Beckinsale’s portrayal of a vampire warrioress in director Len Wiseman’s 2003 hit, Underworld, on top of its fourth installment, Underworld: Awakening, just two years ago. However, the franchise has had some success over the years, and there was once a time when a then-skeptic Beckinsale may have wanted to a return for a possible fifth addition to the Vampire V. Lycan war/romance saga. Nevertheless, Lakeshore Entertainment is ordering a complete revival of the franchise once again, with Priest scribe Cory Goodman providing the screenplay for the new reinterpretation of the sci-fi horror saga, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The previous four films began as the brainchild of author and creator, franchise co-star and actor Kevin Grevioux, with Beckinsale principally starring in the franchise along with actress Rhona Mitra in the epic story of forbidden love amidst a long […]
