Twenty years since Open Range, actor Kevin Costner’s fourth directorial effort now arrives in the form of a back-to-back theatrical event coming in the summer of 2024 with Western epic, Horizon. The first part will see the release of Horizon: An American Saga – Part 1 on June 28, followed by Part 2 on August 16 from Warner Bros. Pictures, as announced on Thursday.
John Lee Hancock (The Founder, Saving Mr. Banks, The Blind Side) will direct Highwayman in a deal long in the works that now sees the lingering crime drama in development at its new home at Netflix. The project was initially brewing at Universal Pictures for four years with a script by John Fusco that has since been redone by Hancock.
The film, according to Deadline, is the long-awaited feature-length treatment of the Depression Era story told from the angle of Frank Hamer and Manny Gault as they led a posse of commissioned lawmen to bring an end to the infamous and deadly crime spree led by Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow in the 1930s. Actors Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson are in early talks to star in the respective roles of Hamer and Gault, the former known as a legendary Texas Ranger who survived 53 gunfights and killed 100 people.
Given the narrative, it’s noticeably familiar-sounding ground for Costner who led the cast opposite Robert DeNiro’s Al Capone in Brian De Palma’s 1987 crime classic, The Untouchables. The actor’s recent credits include Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Criminal and Hidden Figures.
Harrelson’s latest gig is currently stifled by the departner of its two directors in mid-production for the tentatively untitled Han Solo movie. He’ll be seen this July in Matt Reeves’s War For The Planet Of The Apes opposite Andy Serkis.
Paramount Pictures unveiled a new TV spot for actor and director Kenneth Branagh‘s new film, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, which you can view above. Currently tapped for a January 17, 2014 2D and IMAX release, the new film was written by David Koepp and stars Branagh opposite Chris Pine in the title role, along with Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner, Peter Andersson, David Paymer, Gemma Chan and Colm Feore.

SYNOPSIS:
Based on the character created by bestselling author Tom Clancy, “Jack Ryan” is a global action thriller set in the present day. This original story follow a young Jack (Chris Pine) as he uncovers a financial terrorist plot.
The story follows him from 9/11, through his tour of duty in Afghanistan, which scarred him forever, and into his early days in the Financial Intelligence Unit of the modern CIA where he becomes an analyst, under the guardianship of his handler, Harper (Kevin Costner). When Ryan believes he’s uncovered a Russian plot to collapse the United States economy, he goes from being an analyst to becoming a spy and must fight to save his own life and those of countless others, while also trying to protect the thing that’s more important to him than anything, his relationship with his fiancée Cathy (Keira Knightley).
Yahoo! Movies unveiled a new megaclip from Paramount Pictures’ upcoming action spy thriller, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. The new clip shows lead actor Chris Pine with scene details depicting Pine as Ryan as he is checks in at a hotel where he is eventually infiltrated by a hit man played by Game Of Thrones actor Nonso Anozie.
“That particular scene was hard because you have to fight in such an intimate space.“, Pine told Yahoo at a recent press event. “Nonso, the guy who plays the bodyguard Embee, is such a big dude and I’m not a big dude,”. Pine continued his description of the scene stating “It was careful choreography and the floor was slippery and I ended up breaking my finger in that scene. You play through it and figure out a way to collapse onto the bigger fellow and hide your arm. It all worked out.”
The scene also features actor Kevin Costner who plays an old CIA vet and Ryan’s “handler” and mentor who prepares him for his work in the field. Costner was recently featured in a new IMAX character poster which you can view below, in addition to a new international Japanese poster for the film.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit releases worldwide between January and March with a North American date set for January 17, 2014, and also stars Keira Knightley, Peter Andersson, David Paymer, Gemma Chan and Colm Feore. The film is based on the work of late author Tom Clancy, written for the screen by David Koepp and is directed by Kenneth Banagh who also stars as the villain.
SYNOPSIS:
In a story taking place prior to the original Jack Ryan stories, Ryan is a young stockbroker working for a billionaire in Moscow before joining the CIA. When the billionaire he is advising frames him for a terrorist plot and kidnaps his wife, Ryan must race against time to clear his name, stop the plot, and save his wife.

Releasing theatrically on February 21, 2014 courtesy of Relativity Media Distribution Group since its announcement last year, the new trailer has finally made its way to Yahoo! Movies for director McG’s upcoming action thriller, 3 Days To Kill. The new trailer comes in light of the brand new poster (pictured left) was unveiled on Monday longer after several stills went viral for the film via Indiewire.
