Interview: Director William Eubank on his new military thriller LAND OF BAD starring Russell Crowe

William Eubank is a director many film fans first took notice of with the release of the claustrophobic, aquatic horror thriller, UNDERWATER starring Kristen Stewart. Hitting theaters shortly before the isolation era of the global Covid pandemic, and despite a disappointing performance at the box office, the film became the decade’s first true contender for the label of a “cult classic” thanks to strong word of mouth from genre enthusiasts. What that dedicated audience responded to has been evident throughout Eubank’s filmography— whether it be in smaller passion projects, like the mind-bending micro-budgeted sci-fi film THE SIGNAL (2014), or in studio “for hire” fare, like PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: NEXT OF KIN.

Action Thriller KILLERMAN Rolls Cameras This Week

The wait hasn’t been too long seeing as the news broke in May with Liam Hemsworth starring in Malik Bader’s new movie, Killerman. Thus, the film is reportedly underway according to an announcement forwarded at ScreenAnarchy with production slated for locations in Savannah, Georgia and in New York City through December with Bader directing from his own script.

Killerman sees Hemsworth as Moe Diamond, a small-time money launderer who finds himself on the run from a horde of gangsters and dirty cops when a deal goes awry and his escape results in a freak accident that renders him an amnesiac. Joining in is actor Nickola Shreli in reunion with Bader since starring in the director’s acclaimed 2015 Fantasia favorite, Cash Only; Shreli who will play a villainous narc-cop in hot pursuit of Diamond.

John and Michael Schwarz producing along with The Solution’s Myles Nestel. Executive producing is Lisa Wilson over at The Solution who is fully financing and handling international rights with WME taking domestic.

KILLERMAN Nabs Liam Hemsworth To Star

If a title like Killerman doesn’t get your attention in search of action movie news, I don’t know what will. Actor Liam Hemsworth (The Expendables 2, Independence Day: Resurgence) is reportedly on deck to star in the film from a script by Cash Only helmer Malik Bader.

Described as a visceral action thriller, Killerman sees Hemsworth as Moe Diamond, a small-time money launderer who finds himself on the run from a horde of gangsters and dirty cops when a deal goes awry and his escape results in a freak accident that renders him an amnesiac.

THR reports that filming is slated for August with John and Michael Schwarz producing along with The Solution’s Myles Nestel. Executive producing is Lisa Wilson over at The Solution who is fully financing and handling international rights for the film’s Cannes presentation while WME handles domestic rights.

Young adult bookworms have had their eye on actress Jennifer Lawrence for a few years now as she’s morphed into a cinematic success story. Not only does she lead one of Hollywood’s biggest action franchises to date, but she’s also a Guiness 2015 World Record holder, which undoubtedly pleases the folks at Lionsgate ahead of the upcoming release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.

The film is an epic story of love in a time of war pitting young archer Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) in the crosshairs of a post apocalyptic future dictatorship led by President Snow whose annual life-or-death gaming events have been Panem’s only means of suppressing its masses, until now.

SYNOPSIS:

The worldwide phenomenon of The Hunger Games continues to set the world on fire with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which finds Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in District 13 after she literally shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and a nation moved by her courage. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Danny Strong and Peter Craig and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the third in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that has over 65 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.
