Welp… it’s been a less than ceremonious weekend for me. Being sick didn’t help much for want of seeing Black Panther (guess who is avoiding Facebook to abstain from spoilers!), but it did give me a chance to do some important work for the site. Welp, I made good use of my weekend with some great anime on top of work and a pair of reviews. Not much else really. Putting together the hit list was a bit weary since I couldn’t find anything in trailers or things of that nature. Well, it’s about that time. The last Hit List entry for 2017 is upon us, and while it will be a little limited in content what with the slowdown of the holidays, it should still suffice. At any rate, it’s not like I haven’t told you all to subscribe to the hundreds or thousands of channels I’ve been sharing from. Quite the opposite! ? I’m still in recovery mode and will likely be so for the next several days. I forgot that’s what happens when you have as much fun as I did for two nights in a row. Still, I had stuff ready for this week’s Hit List and I couldn’t help but finish it in time for you guys. The past several days may have seen a slump of news. I admit, I kind of enjoyed it as I needed a bit of a breather. Best of all is I finally had a little time over the weekend to start watching Sense8 to see what the fuss is about and… …I’ll be sure to give my feedback in a future post if I catch the writing bug by then. The next installment of the Hit List is currently in production, we have also been ramping up promotion of filmmaker Eric Nguyen’s apparent efforts to build toward an epic shortfilm trilogy. For this, we recently highlit his 2015 comedy, Of Martial Arts And Men along with exclusive coverage featuring stills for the pending sequel, Of Martial Arts And Men: Enter The Dojang. That project will go live publicly on Nguyen’s Lunar Stunts Action Cinema YouTube channel on April 25. EXCLUSIVE: The week is not without its exasperation at times as I gather a good share of stunt reels, demos and shortfilms for weekly installments of The Hit List. Challenging, sure, but it certainly guarantees some of the most fun I have every week and frankly what makes it so enjoyable are some of the projects and creators themselves, especially if I vouched for them personally. With filmmaker and action director Eric Nguyen in this instance, I’d gladly do that ten times over. Well, it’s been another close call but I finally managed to bring you this week’s installation of The Hit List for your own viewing pleasure. Particular current events in the news notwithstanding, Thanksgiving weekend was a mild letdown on my end. We still had dinner though, which was awesome as always. A bit indigestive? Yes… But delish nonetheless. I also slowed down a bit so I can enjoy my weekend some, though with my Facebook notifications and messages buzzing with entries for the Hit List, I couldn’t pass it up and indeed there were a few things I wanted to share anyway. Couetesy of A Hateful 8 Production Martial arts film junkies who’ve been following the indie scene online for the last several years may have come to know the folks over at Rising Tiger Films and the work they’ve been put out since 2008. One such labor of love includes the shortfilm series, Do The Damn Thing, a concept that gracefully branches itself to other creatives with Jabronie Pictures’s own actor and filmmaker Fernando Jay Huerto succeeding the project several installments later. This week I’m actually running several interviews and a few are taking time to develop. In the meantime, it’s been over three years since I started Film Combat Syndicate and having incidentally crossed paths with independent filmmaker, Eric Nguyen, by way of his YouTube channel, Lunar Stunts, I couldn’t think of a better time to spend my time sharing a one-on-one interview.
