Just a little under a few years ago, Warner Bros. laid out plans for a slate of DC Comics movies to assemble a formidable cinematic universe opposite Marvel following Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel, a film that essentially put a terrific new version on the map for movie goers. Since then and for many a fan and optimist, hopes were high as fans got ready for Snyder’s Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice ahead of Patty Jenkins’s Wonder Woman among other titles still forthcoming. Den Of Geek is reporting that Man Of Steel 2 has been put on “permanent hold”, which is a bit of a shock considering it was only last week that “The Death Of Superman Lives: What Happened?” helmer Jon Schnepp announced that Mad Max: Fury Road helmer George Miller was up to direct the film. Whatever it means, it’s not to suggest that the film won’t happen, especially since there’s been a clear interest in making one now that Warner Bros. is well under way with its DC cinematic universe in addition to a potential Batman trilogy starring and directed by Ben Affleck. Miller himself was supposed to direct DC movie, Justice League back in 2008 as his name was one of several candidates listed, including Lana and Andy Wachowski. Warner Bros Warner Bros. has quite the full plate on its hands with their currently fluxating DC cinematic universe. With the course already set for Marvel and Disney, the key focus for Warner Bros. has been to develop its slate as things build up to the Justice League movies set for 2017 and 2019, though that hasn’t been to solidly suggest there wouldn’t be any more titles in between. Warner Bros. is currently busy promoting its next theatrical slate of films for this year’s events at San Diego Comic Con, which also include just a touch of what fan can expect with costume pieces from Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice. The film is currently in production under director Zack Snyder with lead actor Henry Cavill reprising his role from last year’s Man Of Steel and is poised for a May 6, 2016 release. The film also joins Cavill opposite actor Ben Affleck in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman, who has gotten quite the spotlight this year seeing as how the iconic DC Comics character is celebrating its 75th birthday. Warner Bros. has announced its next actor in line for Batman in the form of the actor who once played the comic book character, Matt Murdock, coined as “The Man Without Fear” in director Mark Steven Johnson’s 2003 superhero flick, Daredevil. Afleck admitted last year that the role of the famed blind lawyer from Hell’s Kitchen was a role he didn’t like playing at all… Perhaps the actor will find his resolve in Wayne Manor.
