The Wrap‘s Umberto Gonzalez has the latest follow-up on Masters Of The Universe with word that actor Noah Centineo (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before) is in talks for the title character of Prince Adam of Eternia – a.k.a. He-Man. Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man, upcoming MIB International) are penning a script rewrite for helmers Aaron and Adam Nee (Band Of Robbers), based on the popular toy franchise from the 70s and 80s. It was the franchise that spawned a hit animated series centered on a prince who battles the evil forces of Skeletor to protect the castle, Grayskull. A live-action feature film adaptation from Golan/Globus and director Gary Goddard was released in 1987 to cult acclaim with Dolph Lundgren starring. Iron Man and upcoming MIB: International scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway are being groomed to rewrite the script for Masters Of The Universe. As of last Spring, Band Of Robbers helmers Aaron and Adam Nee are still set to direct the film inspired by the popular He-Man toy franchise of the 70s and 80s from Mattel. It was the franchise that spawned a hit animated series centered on a prince who battles the evil forces of Skeletor to protect the castle, Grayskull. A live-action feature film adaptation from Golan/Globus and director Gary Goddard was released in 1987 to cult acclaim with Dolph Lundgren starring. National Monitor Efforts to reboot the cult-acclaimed Golan/Globus-produced adventure, Masters Of The Universe, have stayed myopic for years and years with a revolving door of directors in rotation. As of Thursday however, things appear to finally be improving at long last with word that sibling duo Aaron and Adam Nee (The Last Romantic, Band Of Robbers) will direct the long-awaited film for Sony Pictures. The news comes just a few months after screenwriter David S. Goyer left the helm following his near-disastrous late 2017 hire to direct. Sony Pictures has been working toward a cinematic reboot centered on classic hero character, He-Man for sometime now. Efforts date as far back as 2007 as rumors swarmed the internet and the film’s ownership changed hands to Colombia Pictures via Sony with G.I. Joe: Retaliation helmer Jon M. Chu’s name once circles to direct. Fast forward to 2016 with the official logo already made public from the studio as development still languished for Masters Of The Universe as it is officially titled. Joe: Retaliation and its upcoming release, word has stirred about on the internet regarding the filmmaker’s participation in the potential reboot for Masters Of The Universe, the 1987 science fiction fantasy action adventure feature film based on the successful toy and animated television series. Last summer, Huffington Post writer Mike Ryan offered his own fancast, and even action superstar Dolph Lundgren was eager to add his opinion, from what he would like to play to even suggesting Channing Tatum or Chris Hemsworth would make good candidates to inherit the lead role of He-Man.
