Christian Sesma seemingly never stops working. A self-taught filmmaker, Sesma has been directing since 2006 at an incredibly productive rate. In that time, he has completed (and found distribution) for more than twenty feature-length genre films. His prolific nature and continued success in getting his work actually seen have led him to be a director that genre acting stalwarts want to work with. ComingSoon.net presented the official trailer for Asif Akbar’s new film, The Commando. The film joins action star Michael Jai White and Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke with Akbar directing from a script by Koji Steven Sakai. “In this edge-of-your-seat crime thriller, an elite DEA agent (White) returns home after a failed mission when his family makes an unexpected discovery in their house – a stash of money worth $3 million,” reads the official synopsis. “They soon face the danger and threat of a newly released criminal (Rourke) and his crew who will do whatever it takes to retrieve the money – including kidnap the agent’s daughters. Actor Michael Jai White will star in The Commando, according to Deadline’s Anthony D’Alessandro on Monday.. White, coming off of recently completed actioners such as Christian Sesma’s Take Back, and Jon Keeyes’s Red 48, joins Mickey Rourke who boarded the project last month, with word that production will commence in New Mexico this month. Asif Akbar, who previously directed Gary Daniels alien sci-fi, Astro, will direct from a script by Koji Steven Sakai who also storied the pic with Al Bravo, and Akbar. With Skin Trade currently in post production, cinematic blockbuster action hero Dolph Lundgren‘s time is now being spent with Saints And Soldiers trilogy helmer Ryan Little for the forthcoming production of War Pigs, a World War II action adventure epic about a disgraced U.S. Army captain assigned to train a rag tag team of soldiers to infiltrate the Nazi regime and destroy their secret “wonder weapon”. The promotional campaign for the latest noir action crime follow-up from co-directors Robert Rodriguez and graphic novelist Frank Miller, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, had a small share of mild controversy in the past few weeks due to the MPAA’s banned poster with actress Eva Green’s right boob; A non-issue if you ask me. I dig the poster, and I’m hard-pressed to believe I’m alone in its approval. At any rate, the film is poised to release nationwide on August 22.
