Watch The Official Music Video For RISE OF THE LEGEND
The forthcoming release of director Roy Chow‘s kung fu epic, Rise Of The Legend, is only a week and a half away from its initial theatrical release in China, and the momentum is definitely there. As for how it will do among the critics is still pending news to many, although one can only hope for some good prospects for a film that dares to make its case known among hardcore martial arts fans that are partial to the classics, and you really have to hand it to Chow for leading those efforts.
The trailers themselves look glossy and present an otherwise very ambitious take on the classic, fabled life and legend of real-life martial arts hero, Wong Fei-Hung, and his origins as a rebel against corrupt government officials and the criminals who operate under them. Here, based on a script by Fearless scribe Christine To, a young master Wong’s tale begins from childhood into his youthful years as a bonafide martial arts rebel and badass, played by actor Eddie Peng whose leading man status, on top of his rigorous training regime prior to filming, will hopefully help cultivate a continuing legacy of support from fans who have grown attached to the character in previous films. And here to help garner more of that appreciation in advance is the brand new lyrical music video for the film’s title song, “Your Legend”, performed by award-winning Taiwanese rock band, Mayday, which you can now watch below.
Edko Films is releasing Rise Of The Legend in China next Friday, and in Hong Kong one week after, with Universal Pictures International gearing up for the film’s worldwide premiere next year.

See Misia Ff's Fitting Tribute To Korean Cinema In Her Music Video, KARTONEM
Director Spike Lee’s reprisal of Park Chan-Wook’s cinematic revenge classic, Oldboy, didn’t exactly hammer in some good box office ratings, but that hasn’t dimmed the adamant love and appreiciation that fans share for the story that Park inspired in 2003. With that in mind, the folks over at Polish martial arts action and performance troupe, Stunt Forces created the destructive visuals emulated in the iconic hallway fight scene set to the tone of writing and directing duo Natalia Jakubowska and Luke Gronowski‘s newest music video featuring Lemko-Polish rock singer and musician Misia Ff performing Kartonem, which centers its entire theme of romance and heartbreak in the first verse: “Ja za tobą murem ty za mną kartonem” which basically translates to “My love is like a rock, yet yours is like cardboard.”
Stunt Forces has been around for about eight years now and their work, which you can view at their YouTube channel has become qualitatively bigger and ambitious with each video. Their latest labor of love, a Chuck Norris tribute titled Old Wolf which pits the best of the actor’s most memorable roles in one fan trailer shows a continual, inherent dedication these folks have to the action genre, and I look forward to hearing more from these folks in the coming year.
In the meantime, check out Misia Ff‘s new video in the embed below and feel free to purchase her album wherever digital downloads are sold. And remember to subscribe to Stunt Forces’ offical YouTube channel and Facebook page — They’re not done blowing minds just yet!
Special thanks to Stunt Forces member Tomasz Lewandowski for his contribution to this article as well as the video!

Enter Gowe's 16-Bit World Of Poetic Wonder In AURORA
Being that I’m in a musical mood lately, I felt like highlighting the latest entry into Machinima’s 2nd Annual Online Interactive Film Festival from 2nd-generation Chinese-American underground hip hop artist, Gowe, titled Aurora. Completed and aired back in February, it has all the trimmings of all the kinds of 80’s and 90’s anime and gaming fanfare being used to highlight Gowe’s message, which also apparently involves robots, lasers, supermoves, spaceflight, a girl with wings, and a 16-bit likeness of Gowe himself kicking ass, armed with a rocket launcher, and yes…explosions, of course.
Watch The Official Music Video For SPECIAL ID Featuring Singer Kun Yang
We have a new official music video this Friday in promotion for the upcoming release of director Clarence Fok’s martial arts action thriller, Special ID. The music video features mainland Chinese singer and the film’s co-star Kun Yang performing the title song, “Wǒ méi nǐ xiǎng dì nàme jiānqiáng (我没你想的那么坚强)”, which translates in English as “I’m Not So Strong As You Think”.
The song appears to be very poignant in reflecting the inner struggles of the relative characters, including Donnie Yen, who can be seen as the undercover cop forced to endure handfuls of bad guys in various scenes, from a bathroom stall and in a street brawl on a rainy evening. It seems to also illustrate some of what Yen meant during a Beijing press conference back in July while promoting the film when discussing the need to exhibit a more personal dimension to his character, telling news outlets “I used to concentrate on how to thrill audiences with my martial arts, …But now, I wish to combine personality with action.”
Take a look at the video and see for yourself.
Special ID also stars actress Jing Tian, Hanyu Zhang, Qi Daji, Andy On and Ken Lo, and is slated for a domestic release on October 18, 2013 long before its North American release from Well Go USA.
Special thanks to Facebook friend Charlie Ruedpokanon for the song title translation.

Jay-Z Sets The Tone For Nabil's Latest Indian Martial Arts Short, HIGHER
I rarely share music videos on my blog that have a martial arts action narrative, and it is either because there are not that many out there, or because, plainly speaking, I don’t usually come across a lot of them. Having said this, it’s a treat to share a music video I found over at SPIN for a newly remixed Jay-Z song titled Higher.
