I don’t know how excited you are about seeing what period Maori martial arts action looks like on the big screen, but I’m frickin stoked! The first official teaser arrived this week for director Toa Fraser‘s new film, The Dead Lands, which has earned a pretty good headstart in building up a fair amount of hype since production process began late last year. The film has been billed as a genuine Maori-language period action drama that promises to deliver nothing short an exhiliarating, full-scale, exciting filmgoing experience. So far however, the only experience most on-lookers online have been getting were various production photos, as well as a slate of new HD stills back in June, while some have already screen the film exclusively. And the mood, as it stands, has been nothing short of upbeat. SYNOPSIS: Hongi, a Maori chieftain’s teenage son, must avenge his father’s murder in order to […]
Following the release of a new poster for director Gary Shore‘s directorial debut, Dracula Untold, the first full teaser arrived on Tuesday with actor Luke Evans front and center in the title role of Prince Vlad Tepes (a.k.a. Vlad the Impaler). There’s plenty of origin shown here so there isn’t too much to worry about what lies ahead when the film releases later this year, especially if you’re looking for something fitting to see come Halloween, in which case, you’ll likely get a hefty treat watching Dracula unleash his brutal onslaught of nightmarish tricks on entire armies, and then some! Evans is joined by Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper and Diarmaid Murtagh for the film’s IMAX and 2D release on October 17.
CORRECTION (6/14): SuperChanBlog’s adminustrator confirmed that the photo going viral is a fake. Crisis averted and the world is safe once again. Carry on as usual. In the weeks since Cannes, news regarding international action hero and Interpol’s crime fighting ambassador, Jackie Chan‘s latest film, Dragon Blade, have been slowly pouring in, with Black Mask helmer Daniel Lee directing from his own script, inspired by a long-developed story concept by Chan, which centers on a fallen Han Dynasty commander who crosses paths with a Roman general, whereupon they venture through the Western Desert on a thrilling adventure. The film, which joins Chan with actors John Cusack and Adrien Brody (discounting earlier mentions of Mel Gibson), has also reportedly broken records since last month pertaining to its ¥2 billion budget, as well as its record sales activity during Cannes where Chan made other headlines for separate films as well. As for […]
#TeamHercules became a thing this week with bonafide action hero Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson starting his new motivational campaign for diet, exercise and health awareness. In the meantime, Johnson’s next appearance in director Brett Ratner‘s latest take on mythological warrior, Hercules, has some cool new international artwork which you can check out below, including one featuring Johnson with actress Irina Shayk. John Hurt, Rufus Sewell, Ian McShane, Joseph Fiennes, Rebecca Ferguson and Aksel Hennie round out much of the principle cast for the film’s North American July 25 release. H/T: CBM
Action blockbusters won’t be running low with actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson taking the lead this July with the forthcoming release of his newest adventure thriller, Hercules from director Brett Ratner. And if it comes as close to author Steve Moore’s original novel as some book enthusiasts and action junkies like may hope, then you can chalk this up as another successful installment into a potential franchise with a sequel. Yes indeed, there are more books from whence this film came via its roots at Radical Comics in 2009, and with any luck, Johnson might say yes. Well, I hope he does at least. This one looks grizzled as all mighty hell with a splash of chilli. Bring ice. Check out the new trailer below and mark your calendar for July 25! SYNOPSIS: Fourteen hundred years ago, a tormented soul walked the earth that was neither man nor god. Hercules […]
Digital and VFX film professional Lloyd Lee Barnett carries quite an extensive and impressive list of credits on TV shows and several notable blockbusters, including The Mummy Returns, Underworld: Evolution, Speed Racer and Avatar; It stretches longer of course, but now it appears Barnett is also applying his skillset to the business end of the director’s chair for his second directorial effort, Ninja Apocalypse. Not much is known about the film’s plot just yet, although based on the new trailer you can check out at the bottom of the page, it appears to have taken a few notes from 1979 classic,The Warriors, with a touch of heavy-hitting martial arts action and fantasy, and zombies! Because well …why not? The trailer looks exciting and pleasing enough for any martial arts cinema fan looking for something fun to watch, so hopefully we will learn more as 2014 rolls on with an official release […]
