Finnish-Iranian actor and martial artist Ramin Sohrab is just one of the latest names circulating martial arts film fandom of late. The release of his feature debut, Layers Of Lies, has been the major contributor to that momentum, having starred and directed in the pic, and is now subject to a U.S. remake. Sohrab wore multiple hats on Layers Of Lies. He directs the pic and stars as Sam, a firefighter whose latest brush with near-death after rescuing survivors from a burning building unleashes a campaign of violent retribution from an unforgiving crime boss who kidnaps his wife, played by Finnish actress and martial artist Jessica Wolff. Invariably, the festival crowd has had its fill with Iranian-Finnish action adventure Layers Of Lies and now folks keen on catching it at home can expect to do so with a digital, cable, satelite and DVD release set for January 23. The film stars and is directed by actor and martial artist Ramin Sohrab, headlining the first ever action production out of Iran for a production with more than its fair share of stories on how the movie came to pass, details to which Sohrab alludes to openly in our 2022 interview. Layers Of Lies is currently playing in Finland at select theaters. Actor and martial artist Ramin Sohrab has been climbing the latter in entertainment for the better part of fifteen years now. Little did many of us know that he also had hopes of sitting in the director’s chair – an aspiration that slowly became clear in the years since he came on radar with multiple site coverage and buzz with a 2014 short film titled “Malek”. Eight years later, Sohrab’s efforts now arrive full circle with Layers Of Lies, a new thriller billed as the first joint Iranian/Finnish action film culminating Sohrab’s feature directing debut. TACFEST had its inaugural festivities over the weekend in Spain celebrating the action genre at large. Par for the course was the world’s first Finnish-Iranian action adventure thriller, Layers Of Lies, starring Ramin Sohrab whose debut feature is currently set for further screenings beginning June 2 in Finland which you can learn more about here. Leading man Sohrab also takes the helm for his latest outing, garnering ceremony at previous festival screenings this year around Los Angeles, as well as Canada, Finland and Belgium. That kind of marketing has also garnered some brand new artwork which I’m happy to share below, while we await for more news on the film’s movement through commercial distribution. Actor, martial artist and filmmaker Ramin Sohrab has been busy setting up shop for a while now in Los Angeles following the production and completion of his feature directing debut, Layers Of Lies. That film currently stands to see some circulation in 2023 with updates pending, with Sohrab biding his time with filming gigs and hosting training, action seminars and, as of late, an Action Short Film Premiere which kicks off on the evening of January 30. Screen Anarchy‘s Todd Brown unveiled on Tuesday the first official teaser for Layers Of Lies, the long-awaited milestone feature debut for Finnish-Iranian actor, martial artist and filmmaker Ramin Sohrab. Filming began early on in 2018 as Sohrab had already ramped up his profile a bit through a number of screen credits, in addition to spectacular demo reels and cuts of his shortfilms showcasing what he can do. With Layer Of Lies, he gets to do all of it and much more, starring as well as producing, and directing from a script he wrote with Chris Larsen (Dearest Sister, The Long Walk) who he added to the project later on as co-writer, according to the initial report. In the hours since the unveiling of a new still from director Ramin Sohrab’s new thriller, Layer Of Lies, we now have another few stills as well as a few BTS videos to share from the set. Production is only just starting in Tehran following the film’s Helsinki shoot and the arduous process of getting pre-approved to film in the middle Eastern capital. An ex-fireman returns to his home country Iran after a decade-long absence, only to have his old enemy resurface and steal away what he treasures most – and now he’ll stop at nothing to exact revenge. Production is expected to roll through the top of July. Sadly the photos don’t bode much for folks curious on the action front but those are yet to come nonetheless. Moreover the photos are from Friday’s shoot, so consider these gems real time!

Finnish actor, martial artist and filmmaker Ramin Sohrab is still in production with his latest feature-length debut efforts on martial arts action thriller, Layer Of Lies. In the meantime, we now have a new look at Sohrab looking like he just laid a much-needed smackdown on someone in one of the film’s fight sequences to be featured.
