One such performance came from supporting actress Haley Bennett who plays a friend to that of lead actress Chloe Grace Moretz in the story of a monastic former government operative whose fight for a young girl’s freedom from human traffickers turned into a sprawling one-man war against an entire criminal organization, and at the rate we’re going, we could very well see a sequel. Eleven years doesn’t really seem too far off when recalling actress Kate Beckinsale’s portrayal of a vampire warrioress in director Len Wiseman’s 2003 hit, Underworld, on top of its fourth installment, Underworld: Awakening, just two years ago. However, the franchise has had some success over the years, and there was once a time when a then-skeptic Beckinsale may have wanted to a return for a possible fifth addition to the Vampire V. Lycan war/romance saga. Following up on the previous report regarding the latest concept image for director Derek Yee‘s new film, The Sword Master, Yee recently took to social media to set the record straight regarding some reported backlash over the casting of his new film. The film was finally announced last year with film auteur Tsui Hark attached as producer for a 3D rendering of the Shaw Brothers remake based on a classic novel that inspired the 1977 film, Death Duel. “If a collaboration between Tsui Hark and I still need big stars to get you to waste your time and spend your money on a ticket, then we might as well pack up, go home, drink whiskey and shoot the breeze,” Yee posted on his Sina Weibo account. “It doesn’t matter who’s acting in the film. After roughly a year of production filled with more than it’s share of challenges, it appears things are finally coming together with action star Donnie Yen‘s long-awaited two-part epic reboot thriller, Iceman 3D. And this week, we now have a proper trailer that says so, with a lot more to offer on the film’s narrative than seen in previous footage, and should continue to garner further interest. Co-directed by The Wrath Of Vajra helmer Law Wing Cheong, Iceman 3D also stars Wang Baoqiang, Eva Huang and Simon Yam, and debuts in Hong Kong on April 17 before it spreads to China a week later, with details still awaiting for the sequel, in addition to Well Go USA’s North American schedule for the film. This week, French actor and parkour pioneer David Belle’s Hollywood rendition of his previous role in director Pierre Morel’s 2004 hit thriller, Banlieue 13 can now be seen in Entertainment Tonight’s exclusive premiere of the new quick teaser for Camille Delamarre‘s directorial debut, Brick Mansions. The film is one of just a few more films left in the repetoire between now and next year for fans of late actor Paul Walker who takes the reigns of actor Cyril Raffaelli’s character from the previous film, opposite actor RZA with a script by Luc Besson and Bibi Naceri. Director Josè Padilha‘s newest film, Robocop, is set to release in North America on February 12, 2014. Promotion is underway for the new film with sets of viral ads and posters, including the international poster you can see on the left for the film’s Chinese release. Today, IGN has unveiled the first fill clip of the film, which sees lead actor Joel Kinnaman donning the all-black suit as the eponymous half-man/half-machine crime fighter. The Point Break Remake Has Acquired Itself A Director

Deadline is reporting this week that cinematographer Ericson Core will direct the upcoming remake of the 1991 blockbuster action rush feature flick, Point Break. The news comes a little over a year and a half after Alcon Entertainment announced it required the rights in 2011, then issuing a press release: Alcon principals Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson secured rights to the project the week of the original film’s 20th anniversary from RGM Media, John McMurrick and Chris Taylor. Kosove and Johnson will produce along with Michael DeLuca, John Baldecchi, Chris Taylor and Kurt Wimmer (“Salt,” “Law Abiding Citizen,” upcoming “Total Recall”), who also wrote the screenplay. Deadline is reporting that producer Joel Silver is joining forces between his production company, Silver Pictures, and Studio Canal to revive the classic 1981 post apocalyptic sci-fi action thriller, Escape From New York. The reboot will reportedly be the set-up for a new trilogy, with Silver producing along with Andrew Rona, and executive vice president of Silver Pictures, Alex Heineman serving as executive producer. Currently, the developmental process is undergoing a search for a writer to pen the screenplay, while the word is that actors Gerard Butler (300, Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life), Jeremy Renner (The Bourne Legacy, S.W.A.T.), Tom Hardy (Warrior, This Means War) and Liam Neeson (Darkman, Taken, Unknown) are at the top of the list for Silver’s latest re-imagining of the character, Snake Plissken, previously played by actor Kurt Russell.
