Director Jonathan Sobol’s new crime thriller, The Baker, is coming to VOD on August 29 from Vertical Entertainment. The Baker is now playing in theaters from Falling Forward Films. Ron Perlman is back on screen as of the weekend in his latest, The Baker, a gritty new crime thriller from director Jonathan Sobol. The cast also includes Joel David Moore, Elias Koteas and Harvey Keitel, and introduces young actress Emma Ho from a script by Thomas Michael and Paolo Mancini, the latter who also co-stars. Where that script takes us is directly into the reclusive, stoic world of a man named “Pappi” (Perlman), who when not waking up aghast after every nightmaring sleep, dives right into his regimen as a baker with his own shop. Jonathan Sobol (The Padre, The Art of the Steal, A Beginners Guide to Endings) will direct The Baker, an action drama written by duo Paolo Mancini and Thomas Michael (Hank and Mike). Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Monster Hunter) will headline the cast along with Academy-Award nominee Harvey Keitel (The Irishman, Pulp Fiction), Elias Koteas (The Thin Red Line, Crash), Joel David Moore (Avatar) and 10 year old newcomer Emma Ho (Code 8, Disney’ Jr’s “Pikwik Pack”). Production nears as director Paul W.S. Anderson gears up for live-action video game adaptation, Monster Hunter. On Friday, Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) and Toho Co., Ltd. (Toho) took to the masses to announce a few more details about its new feature film endeavor which Anderson is scripting. The press release itself described the plot in brief terms as a film thay will depict two protagonists from different respective worlds who must join forces to fend off monsters and survive. Announcements out of Berlin are hailing Zach Golden’s latest crime comedy, The Escape Of Prisoner 614, as it screens this week at EFM. I think the biggest thing that intrigues me about any trailer is what I don’t see. That said, while there’s plenty of compelling action with co-lead, international star Tony Jaa alongside towering powerhouse Dolph Lundgren, perhaps the one thing I’m looking forward to sampling is how well they pair on screen between lines, especially considering Jaa himself is now crossing over into other markets. Other than that, Skin Trade makes the latest from director Ekachai Uekrongtham with an ensemble cast lining-up this seasoned cast of stars to hit th U.S. next month. Action fans will appreciate this, no doubt about it, and with thanks to Magnet Releasing no less. It won’t be long before director Ekchai Uekrongtham‘s upcoming international thriller, Skin Trade, finally makes its way to theaters. Initially conceived by lead actor Dolph Lundgren, the film itself has since taken on a new identity through social media as production began at the top of last year courting action fans with the intent to entertain, but with a story based on the actor’s own acknowledgement of the afflicting nature of human trafficking at a global scale. If there’s anything specifically worth noting about actor and producer Dolph Lundgren‘s new action thriller, Skin Trade, much of it lies in its etymology.
