Saban Films is taking the mantle with the official trailer for action thriller, Transfusion, written and directed by Matt Nable. The film will release in theaters, and on VOD and Digital from March 3 with Nable joining a cast led by Sam Worthington and Phoebe Tonkin To protect his son, an ex-special forces operative (Sam Worthington) plunges into the criminal underground for one final mission in this muscular, emotionally charged thriller.
Academy Award-winner Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls, Respect) will head up action survival thriller, Breathe, from Indie Spirit Award-winner Stefon Bristol (See You Yesterday). The film will also star Sam Worthington (Avatar) Milla Jovovich (the Resident Evil franchise), Academy Award-nominee Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Annie) and Academy Award-winner Common (Wanted, Suicide Squad) will also star. Bristol will direct his sophomore pic from the Black List screenplay written by Doug Simon (Dimension’s Demonic). Writer and director Gigi Gaston’s new thriller, 9 Bullets, is out and about with an official trailer on Friday. The film was acquired in February by Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment Inc.’s Screen Media Films who will release the film theatrically and on digital from April 22. A former burlesque dancer turned author (Lena Headey) discovers a second chance at life and redemption when she risks everything to rescue her young neighbor after he witnesses his parents’ murder. Now on the run from the local crime boss (Sam Worthington), who happens to be her longtime ex, she makes a desperate attempt to get the boy to safety. Donnybrook helmer Tim Sutton’s new western, The Last Son, is currently selling hard for multiple buyers via the Cannes market this week. Long since his development efforts in the 1990s with ambitious sci-fi thriller, Cross, it looks as if filmmaker Andrew Niccol will finally get to move forward. According to Pierce Conran at Kobiz, actress Son Ye-jin (The Pirates, The Negotiation) and Lee Sun-kyun (Parasite, Jo Pil-ho: The Dawning Rage), will headline the film with actor Sam Worthington (Avatar franchise). Exact plot details are underwraps but the story is set in a diverse, albeit dystopian country where the lives of the rich and the poor are separated by a giant border wall that appearently no one is allowed to cross.
