SAMURAI MARATHON 1855: The Race Is On In The Newest Official Trailer
It all comes down to actor Satoh Takeru to prevent the worst case scenario as a secret government agent in Candyman and Anna Karenina helmer Bernard Rose’s latest, Samurai Marathon 1855. The film is based on Dobashi Akihiro’s 2014 novel, “Bakumatsu Marason Samurai”, and currently sits as one of our Five-A-Day entries of titles to look forward to in 2019.

Candyman and Immortal Beloved director Bernard Rose is fresh from promoting his latest Vero stint with Franz Schubert musical endeavor, The Hurdy Gurdy man. He now stands at the center of his latest campaign for jidaigeki period pic, Samurai Marathon 1855, taking its cues from Dobashi Akhiro’s 2014 novel for the film’s February 22 release.
INUYASHIKI: Man And Machine Are One In The First Official Trailer
Director Sato Shinsuke is someone you’ve probably been keeping your eye on for the new year if you have an eye for live-action manga adaptations. He’s got two rolling out this year and first on the menu is Inuyashiki based on Oku Hiroya’s 2014 publication.
It’s a damn good package too, ripe with the use of an unlikely hero pitted against formidable odds. Actors Kinashi Noritake and Satoh Takeru lead the way for a story telling of an old man forced to face a looming threat in the form of a vindictive high school student following an explosion that renders them with extraordinary abilities by way of bionic implants.
Late December saw a teaser and as of this week, the official trailer has arrived courtesy of Toho for an April 20 release. Peep it below in addition to the official poster!

AJIN: DEMI HUMAN Gets An English-Subbed Trailer For Its Singapore Release
I’ve seen some okay signs with respect to release news regarding live-action adaptations. Sakurai Gaimon’s 2012 sci-fi action horror manga publication, Ajin: Demi Human, is one I’m amply hyped for in its latest treatement from Bayside Shakedown film series and Shaolin Girl helmer Motohiro Katsuyuki and so I’m compelled to help keep the excitement going on my end with the film’s Singapore release on October 12.
These AJIN: DEMI-HUMAN Promos Promise Tons Of IMAX Fun And Thrills
Making the case for such screenings are two of the film’s stars, actors Satoh Takeru and Ayano Gou as seen among those in the following playlist featuring some really strong, action-packed nuggets from the movie – about a med intern whose accidental death brings him face to face with immortality by way of a supernatural creature, and a terrorist imbued with the same abilities. Here’s to hoping the film makes haste with a stateside release prompting the same theatrical treatment, because this looks too fantastic to miss out on.
AJIN: DEMI HUMAN: Death, Life And Epic Creature Battles Are A Repeat Process In The First Official Trailer For The Live-Action Adaptation
It’s understandable that one forgets things. Amid all the film festival hype I damn near forgot that a live-action adaptation of Sakurai Gamon’s hit manga, Ajin: Demi Human was on the way which makes me wonder how come it’s not heading to festivals this year, unless I’m wrong.
If not, I reckon part of this is due to the amount of work being put into the spectacular action sequences and immersive visuals with Bayside Shakedown film series and Shaolin Girl helmer Motohiro Katsuyuki at the helm. There wasn’t a lot of footage in the previous teaser to showcase it much but there was just enough to garner some much-deserved interest and as of Sunday, to say the least, the official trailer guarantees the promise being offered here in a much more assuring fashion.
The film opens in Japan on September 30 and much to the delight of fans of both the manga, the anime series and films, as well as Rurouni Kenshin star Satoh Takeru. He leads the cast of the film as Nagai Kei, a medical intern who dies in a pedestrian accident only to be brought back to life by an infamous, supernatural anomaly upon which a government agency has waged war, stirring further conflict with a squad of mercenaries led by an elusive radical terrorist who shares the same gift as Nagai.
That gift, that anomaly comes in the form of what’s only known as an Ajin, translucent, mysterious creatures symbiotic to their hosts and each with their own flaws and traits therein. Watch as these demonic, shadowy creatures stake their claim in the spotlight in the first official trailer below with actor Tamayama Tetsuji and actress Kawaei Rina, and actors Ayano Gou, Shirota Yuu and Yamada Yuki also starring.
AJIN: DEMI-HUMAN: Satoh Takeru Awakens To Terror In The First Action-Packed Teaser For The Live-Action Adaptation
Sakurai Gaimon’s 2012 sci-fi action horror manga publication, Ajin: Demi Human, has a lot to its current story arsenal. How Bayside Shakedown film series and Shaolin Girl helmer Motohiro Katsuyuki is weaving it all together for its forthcoming feature film adaptation remains to be seen but right now, the teaser is something that needs to be seen to be believed, because it’s looks too awesome.
For the unengaged, however, take into mind the presence of actor Satoh Takeru, known prolifically for helping bring to life Otomo Keishi’s Rurouni Kenshin trilogy, now staking his claim as medical intern Nagai Kei, who is stricken by a car and presumably killed until he wakes up almost immediately and discovers himself to be one of many unknown hosts of an inexplicable translucent entity known as Ajin, mysterious creatures who have already made grim headlines around the world.
Imbued with untested, supernatural abilities – including possible immortality, it’s a grim twist that ultimately tests Nagai’s mettle and moral compass with both sides of the law descending into all out war, and without question, Nagai will surely be choosing a side. We’ll be seeing how this all comes to pass in its live-action delivery in wake of a pending September 30 release in Japan, but the first teaser available below looks every bit as slick, promising, and damn well cool!
Actor Tamayama Tetsuji and actress Kawaei Rina, and actors Ayano Gou, Shirota Yuu and Yamada Yuki also star. Watch the brand new teaser now!
