Warner Bros. went two-for-two this weekend with at least two of its properties at SDCC 2018, one of them being the latest trailer premiere for James Wan’s new adaptation, Aquaman. The DCEU hasn’t been easy for the studio to attain a pulse for in bringing a consensus from DC fans, some of whom still may keen on seeing actor Jason Momoa don the role after Justice League. The good news is that the role still suits him more than adequately.
David Sandberg’s own treatment of DC property, Shazam!, may unofficially share space with the previous DCEU films. However, clearly this one is standing on its own two jolly feet with Zachary Levi and Asher Angel playing the respective alteregos of our title superhero in the new action adventure, as the official trailer proudly shows this weekend.
Gareth Edwards’ 2014 re-installment of Toho’s iconic monster franchise, Godzilla, got the ball rolling for a new franchise that once teetered into potential King Kong territory; The addition of Kong: Skull Island certainly helps and so hopefully that day will still come as it’s a matter of time before we eventually find out.
Kurt Sutter’s hit series, Sons Of Anarchy, was certainly one of the most immersive and brutal drama shows to hit the airwaves when it premiered ten years ago. Actor Charlie Hunnam shepherded the sprawling seven-season saga as Jax Teller, the heir to a biker club at the center of one supercharged and bloody story about family, secrets, romance, social commentaty, retribution and redemption.
I can’t really stress enough the kind of justice Cheo Hodari Coker did for actor Finn Jones’s cameo episode with Mike Colter in this year’s second season of Luke Cage. Jones’ series debut as Marvel superhero and Defender-to-be, Iron Fist, wasn’t the best received which cast an even better light on the compelling and chilling drama centered on his co-stars Tom Pelphrey and Jessica Stroup.
