2010 saw the critical and commercial success of S. Shankar’s multi-award winning blockbuster sci-fi thriller, Robot, now readying an Amazon release next year. That milestone achievement continues next year with 2.0 from Shankar returning to the helm for actor Rajinikanth reprising the role of embattled A.I. robot, Chitti, and his creator Dr. Vaseegaran. Robot is currently available on Netflix for anyone who wants to catch up. 'Sicario' Sequel, SOLDADO, Finds Its Director

Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario was a hit before reaching the starting line, earning copious amounts of critical praise for its performance at the 2015 installment of Cannes with notable box office earnings by its wide October release. Talk of a sequel was already blooming before then when it was announced that Villeneuve and the film’s scribe, Taylor Sheridan, were developing a follow-up that would focus on the character, “Alejandro”, played memorably Benecio Del Toro, one of the gritty key players in the narrative pitting U.S. law enforcement against criminal kingpins operating at and beyond the Mexican border. At the time though, it wasn’t known if Villeneuve would return to helm.
