Where does one begin when discussing a legendary gaming series such as God of War? It’s the epic tale of Kratos, a tortured Spartan warrior, hell-bent on revenge against the Greek deities that used and wronged him. Over the course of several games, he would eventually topple Mount Olympus’ pantheon and himself claim the title of God of War. The series would receive a universally acclaimed sequel/reboot in 2018 that would find it’s hero exiling himself to the Norse realm of Midgard. This game was recently followed up by the runaway success of God of War Ragnarok, winning Best Narrative, Best Action/Adventure and more at the Game Awards 2022, and selling over 5 million units in it’s launch week; the fastest selling first-party game in Playstation history. Naturally, Playstation Productions would follow this up with a bombshell announcement: they’ll be teaming up with Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios to deliver GOD OF WAR, a live-action series based on the series!

Casting is underway with plans toward a summer shoot on action comedy series, Obliterated, which has moved from TBS to Netflix as of Monday. The show hails from Sony Pictures Television and is being shepherded by Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald, the minds behind hit Karate Kid spin-off series, Cobra Kai.
The profusion of black stories in entertainment continues in due time courtesy of the folks over at EbonyLife Ltd. and their proud partnership being announced on Thursday with Sony Pictures television. Official press announcements from the Nigeria-based premiere global premium African TV network and produciton banner are confirming a first-of-a-kind partnership for three new TV projects to be allocated internationally, and the first one in order will be a female-centric action drama series based on true events surrounding the battles that occurred in the West African Kingdom of Dahomey during the 19th century.
The action-packed series will focus its narrative on the empowering stories of the all-female warriors and their show of ultimate strength and unity in their fight to protect and honour their people. The project comes in the wake of the exemplary successes seen in Disney’s Marvel release, Black Panther from director Ryan Coogler, as well as the upcoming feature film, The Woman King, also based on the Dahomey Warriors which currently has Lupita Nyongo and Viola Davis set to star for TriStar Pictures, making EbonyLife Ltd.’s all the more opportune to hone in on the market for a similar show of support.
Casting remains pending while Sony Pictures Television sets course to distribute the show internationally.
